How strong is this rumour though? other than KR claims (I won't bother you with my opinions of him) all I have seen is people (including Nikon Rumours which lately has a pretty good record) making fun of Ken's claims...
Well, if any company has the resources to pull this off, it's Nikon and Canon. I really don't think they'll pull out a loaded teaser like the "Ooki/Big" teasers they ran just for a concert, like others have mentioned.

Methinks there's something there that's just not fit to be announced just yet, especially with the D3x being frowned on mostly due to its pricing.

If I was Nikon head, I'd milk the FF cash cow a bit more still, unless they know something the competition is doing that we don't.

But Pentax, unlike Nikon, has traditionally been a big player in MF with the 6x7 and 645 systems. I don't see why they couldn't continue doing that now, only digitally? A 645D would make a lot of sense. They already have the lens designs and the reputation!

Oh, and another thing: Pentax has already released its very own MX system a long time ago.
yes, this I am aware of, but I was more referring to how many units they will sell at $15,000 each. Very few. Niche.

New Nikon DMF - MX system. Will Pentax make something close to MX and much cheaper?
Those are all unsubstantiated rumours from one person's imagination. It's not a new system until it is released.

Should we base our own flights of fancy on his?

The sensor in MF cost so much nowadays it make sense for the sense company to make MF system. And Nikon controls its FF sensor technology.

That's why I don't think Leica S system will go far in the long run.

The D3x got a high keyed rumor round and low keyed release. The MX system will probably do the same.

But he heard about it in 2008 Must be true.

Not that I'm saying it isn't true, but hearing a rumor a significant time ago doesn't change the fact that it's still just a rumor.
