but look how Oly can adjust AF (in a consumer level camera) and compare it w/ Pentax... nice job, Oly !
Well, it looks like Olympus had learned from Pentax - as Pentax was first to introduce this feature into an affordable camera, yes, I'm talking about the K20D. Olympus followed with the E30 and now with the E620.
Nice job, Pentax!

Fine tuning for zooms and for each AF point are better than K20D's AF adjustment.

To say honest - Olympus can offer better AF, better stabilization, better AF adjustment, fast contrast AF in LV.

Pentax can't offer it now. Wait PMA.

I stand by my statement about the Oly E620...nothing about it turns me on. Sure the little features are "wow", but the only thing that is impressive is the AF adjustment...but still nothing to make me think for a split second about wanting one.

Sounds to me like noone here knows how tedious lens adjustment for all 7 sensors would be. That is really a job for a manufacturer to fine tune. All I forsee are people not being able to fine tune it and really messing up the whole process.
It would hoowever be feasable if fine tuning was able to do it itself.
Like having it implemented in LV.
The camera focuses using phase detection, on a tripod, then it switches itself to LV and adjusts to the sharpest point and calculates itself how much of an adjustment should be made.

That's a great idea. If the sensor can do liveview, it should have the hardware to phase detection.

Ogl, how do you know the E620 has better AF and better stabilization?
The AF adjustment is more complex, yes, but still Pentax was first.

May be tedious, but it is still provides the user/consumer something

I've handled the E-3 and E-30 and their AF is really good. Very fast and reliable especially with their SWD lenses (blistering fast AF!). So I assume the E-620 should have very good AF as well

Yes, the E3 is fast - but we're talking about the E620 here; I wasn't impressed by entry level Olympus DSLRs so far. So, can we wait before jumping to conclusions?

All Olympus cameras with IS has better stabilization than Pentax and Sony.
Smaller sensor has advantage in stabilization.

As for AF - I think that it is better. Anyway, E3 and E30 has better AF than K20D.
I think new AF in E620 is not worse.

Pentax was first with AF adjustment in cameras lower USD1300.
Canon offered AF tuning in Canon EOS-1D Mark III before, in 2007, for example.

E620 has new generation of AF. it's not E520.
Fast in LV and very good in real life.

See post #31, I was talking about affordable cameras. I know about the Canon.

You know a lot about E620 stabilization⁡ did you had prototypes to play with?
