Most probably this is what will happen. The K200D could go the way of the K20D was to the K10D. A body that will be reused with the 14.6 MP sensor and weather sealed, external add on grip and improved AF ala K2000D.
Its the only camera that has been discontinued officially and the K20D could live on for another 3 months with the lower price.
Both the K20D and K200D were announced together so they should have been discontinued together if both were to be replaced at PMA.
K300D is the likely culprit and will trounce the Oly E620 with its higher Res, better view finder, weather sealing and the New 3" OLED display from Samsung 960pixels :O

As w're on the topic of not seeing/finding things... I'll bring it up again:

The OP states "Pentax are also extending the free Three Year Warranty on all K20Ds purchased by March 31st 2009." which just a quote taken from the blogsite linked to (not attributable to the OP'er).

Now, I can't find mention of that on the purchase site, or in my cart if I click "Add to Cart". Is there something I'm missing or is that blog site in error? If it's not actually offered, I'll have to withdraw my excitement (getting it from Pentax corp at least).

My Olympus friend shooting E30 was kind of jealous about the bracket mode in both my K20D and K-m offering 5 shots 2LV apart. Olympus only offers 3 shots... Sometimes, it surprises me how not only Pentax can make homework errors.

I cannot figure out why pentax cannot update their website with 3 year reapir special unless thats just bad info.

I paid $689 with free delivery and no local fees in Nov 2008 for my 3 year warranty K20D.

If there is a 3 year special running I think its SILLY there is NO info about the promo on Pentax USA or their separated webstore. SO I conclude 3 year special is Incorrect. But $799 plus $15 plus tax is a pretty good deal. Better than when they raised K10D prices back up to issue via pentax store only sales to clear remaining inventory.

Anyone else notice BestBuy website is selling off brand new Nikon D200 at $599? Put it in your BestBuy web cart and it comes up $599.

The current Pentax line-up looks like:
K20d body: 800$
K200d body: 600$
K2000d kit: 600$

Three DSLRs within 200$...

If there is a K200d replacement at PMA, where would it be placed?

I guess where they would want to be is 400, 800 and 1500 instead. Price drop also for k-m/k2000 and introduction of LXD :-)

How about C**on's strategy with "sister" models of the 40d and the 50d.

There could be something along these lines with the K300d and K20d until the new model comes out, and it would be useful to generate cash by selling out the K20D stocks.

Maybe segregate them as others have suggested with a smaller body and no second e-dial, but leave pretty much all else unchanged.

That would leave space at the top for a forthcoming higher spec camera.
If they are upspeccing though, I would expect access to pentaprism (again - like *DS/DS2 days), and maybe a proprietary battery to make the whole thing smaller.

I'm not really the betting type, but I did notice prices have gone up in the past 6-months-or-so much faster than they went down when the C$ reached parity!
