Pentax Bridge Camera

Someone on the other forum spotted an editor error in the article:

Colorfoto, das Magazin für digitale Fotografie - colorfoto.de Olympus

A Pentax bridge camera with smaller sensor (?), EVF, fixed lens (macro button) and apparently no hotshoe.

I'm not excited. Bridge cameras like this are even dorkier than DSLRs.

Well, that photo hasn't been "made in Photoshop" - retouched, but not made-up. So it's probably real, but not sure why?

So... K-m, then K-mm? If it doesn't have a K-mount, it would certainly be smaller... so maybe another micro 4/3d's? Is Hoya/ Pentax jumping on that bandwagon?

Hmmmm.... I'd rather have a white K-m. ;-)

They can be useful. Macro with extreme dof at reasonable working distances (relative to a DSLR macro lens) is the reason a number of DSLR owners in a Panasonic forum I've visited keeps their superzooms to complement their more serious cameras.

There was a rumor about one of these arriving a few weeks back, and also included in the rumor was that it would be weathersealed. If true, that's a very interesting proposition, as I'm sure there are a lot of hikers/bikers/travellers/adventurers in general who like the idea of an all-in-one better than a DSLR and would place a lot of value on durability, while maybe not being as concerned about getting the highest possible image quality.

Panoguy, I'm pretty sure it's just a compact superzoom. Nothing really special here, just pentax has never made one up until this point. Most of the other brands do.

It's hard to say. I'd like to have a look at the front part of camera.

It's an interesting mistake. There is nothing in the article about Pentax. It's just going on about the Oly 620. That's really weird that they would make that mistake.

Pentax NEVER made hypezooms. It's not Pentax niche.

What's up with the button?

Anyway, I'm interested if it's K mount.

My guess is an easy mode or smile detection.

So it can't become?

Btw, nobody said the mens was not made by Oly/Nikon any other place to outsource it.

Quite a number actually although they change name on them.
Ricoh and HP a couple years ago all had "Pentax SMC lens" written on them.

Next question?

Haha sharp eye Dan! I was thinking the same thing! Oh do the boundaries of "Who Dun It" get ever more obscure.

Maybe there's something in the serial number that would indicate who made the original. (kinda like vivitar lol)

I think its micro 4/3ds

Yep, I've convinced myself that Hoya is sensor-supplier agnostic enough to put micro 4/3ds in a "bridge" cam with nice Hoya glass (with SMC) and probably 24-105mm equivalent range. Maybe there's a Pentax K-mount adapter for other lenses like the G1 has...

Should be ultra-thin and compact and... wait for it... "weather sealed!" (And it partly explains why Ned was playing with the Panasonic... er, Leica... last month. He'd never be seen with an Oly!)
