Pentax | X70 SUPER ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA | 17491 | B&H Photo Video

A new camera popped up on BH Photo.

Any comments, news or thoughts about this?

yes it does.

I also would like to see " PENTAX K30D NEW RELESE" but I guess it will not be now at least.

It could be a good move by pentax this. Becasue the P&S market is a lot bigger then the pro-DSLR market.

What are you think?

I thought Pentax/Hoya were trying to get OUT of the P&S market because it was too concurential and very low margin...?

Maybe I misread the press release a while ago...

Maybe you should see the output from a Fuji finePix 9600 bridge camera.

A guy in my village is selling his pictures taken with it.

If Pentax bring out a bridge with that kind of output, I would buy one as a travel camera. I was thinking about a second hand 9600!

This would be a competitor for the Km though as the K200D would be the photographic upgrade from the Fuji 9600 so I do not know where Pentax will put this cam in that range.

I hope it will use a manual zoom, like the Konica Minolta A200, if so, this one will be very interesting.

no. Maybe you was right. I have heard the same thing so it could be true.
However in hard economic times like today, I bet that companies like pentax don't drop anything without thinking about the market.

At least I hope so

This is no P&S in the traditional terms. Look at the rear wheel. This thing should sport M/Av/Tv/P modes at least.
I don't call that a P&S. It is no G9 concurrent either, but it has nothing to do with a Optio E70, does it?

If such camera has 1/2.3" sensor, it's not better than E70.

1/2.3" sensors aren't that great, but the lenses on bridge camera are usually better than the small P&S lenses.
