Check It Out ...

The news is out,

check out this on Pentax Japans web site.

http://www.pentax.jp/english/news/2009/200903.html

WOW!! - Not Weather proofed though and LCD fixed.

In the space of me posting this, the link in Pentax Press Releases has been REMOVED. There was also a 14mm f4 lens as well I think but I didn't get a look at that before they removed it.

I have just clicked the above link and that still (seems) to work.

The News Item has been removed, together with the lens, but the link I posted will get you to the X70.

It doesn't say anything about sealing though.

Roadmap as well as the other link has been removed.

Also, that zoom shows "24X" - 24X optical, or digital, how are those things marketed? Because that would mean equiv of 28mm - 670mm or so... Kinda a 'reach'

EDIT: It say's 'optical'. Huh. Is there another bridge with that much range?

Teleconvertor has gone and there is no extra info on the super-telephoto (although it is at least still there.

DA* 30.. and TC out.

I not sure this is bad news. It may be a result of the new release policy from Hoya. No leaks, and very little hints. For all we know, the two items may still not be too far away.

I am reminded of a forum post here about a new member wanting to know if there was a pentax bridge cam. it went into quite the debate about whether one was even necessary (I don't much care for them just to hint at my side of the debate) but here ya go, now pentax has a bridge cam. I wonder how well it will do? I wont use it that's for sure it will undoubtedly have an EVF and that's a no go. I do like the addition of the flash assist lamp. something to look forward to on upcoming digital SLR's? I am curious about the lens though. on lower end P&S cameras pentax usually marks the lens 'Pentax Lens' not mentioning SMC (I assume its coated but not smc) but on the higher end it is always marked 'SMC Pentax Lens' from this photo it certainly looks coated (I couldnt imagine it not being) but it is not marked SMC. would they really release such a camera without an SMC coated lens?

I seems this camera is an almost straight re-badge so it probably doesn't have SMC

If Hoya removed the DA*30 and TC from the roadmap to limit leaks and hints, then why keep the DA Telephoto on there?
