Samsung's cross over between SLR and comptact camera

Cameras: Samsung Invading Micro Four Thirds Territory With Its NX Series Hybrid Cameras

No source to refer in the article, but the photo makes it quite solid.

I find this news much more exiting than Pentax bridge.

Best regards,
Guillaume

I find it worrisome that there was no mention of the K-mount anywhere in the press release.

if it's ready for release in the second half of this year, you would think that they've decided on the mount...

Even if they use the K-mount it is probably too thin to use our Pentax lenses... Wrong distance to the sensor...
Maybe they will make an adapter, but it will make the whole thing bigger.

Still very interesting though

"The use of an EVF has allowed Samsung engineers to significantly reduce the size and weight of the new camera system by decreasing the distance between the lens and image sensor (flange back) by approximately 60% compared to traditional DSLRs."

So without knowing if it has a K mount, it does not sound like you could use any existing K-mount lenses since they will focus behind the sensor in this camera. So count me out!

It should be possible to make some sort of converter though, but will they? And what functions will you loose?

If Samsung can offer pancake fast lenses, I don't care about K mount.

Samsung do not make lenses, so I doubt they will launch on their own a new mount.

An elegant solution would be to keep the K-mount and use a rear converter to shorten the focusing distance. (the registration distance)

Usin the zillion K-mount lenses and in particular the pancake lineup would be a major argument against the micro fourthird alliance.

Anyway we'll know more at the PMA.

Regards,
Guillaume

Adding more optics in the path would deteriorate image quality, so probably not the best solution.

K mount ?

in the pictures the unlock button for lens is on right side of body !!!!

Also lokking at body dept it seems too small for K flange focal distance.....maybe adaptors are needed

No need for optics, just getting the lens further from the sensor and accomodate for the bayonet change.
