The one on the 7 o'clock position is commonly used for DOF operations.

Yea seems like pentax was left out of the loop on this one lol.

Anyhow, if there is an adapter it will most likely just be an 'extension' tube to bring the lens to film distance to about 45.5mm.

However, unless Pentax is intimately involved with the works, there's little chance for compatibility with our DA and DA* lenses. Our apertures close the moment they leave the confines of the K Bayonet. That and its almost no chance Samsung will actually release a converter to actively translate AF and metering operation coding into one usable by Pentax-A and post gen lenses. (for real time AF.)

From Samsung NX concept features compact footprint, APS-C sensor:

"Lens mount uncertainties
Although it wasn't spelled out in today's announcement, product shots and technical discussions suggest that the NX series will retain interchangeable lenses as well. Given the lack of concrete information on this front, it's also not clear what lens mount Samsung might be planning to use.
What is known is that Samsung has a long history of building DSLRs around Pentax's K mount. With lots of tiny "pancake" primes in Pentax's DA Limited stable that would fit nicely with the equally compact NX, Pentax is the obvious frontrunner in our minds at this point. Assuming this pans out as expected, it would be a boon for Pentax shooters, providing a compact body option even smaller than the current Pentax K2000."

So obviously they kept them in the dark by not telling anything about the optics, not even for sure that it is interchangeable, nor the mount, nor who will make the optics. The Pentax-line is just speculation by digitalcamerareview.

I can't see how they could make k-mount pancakes work without an adapter, and then they just loose again the gained 40% depth they got from dropping the mirrorbox.

Have you notived how totally anonymous the lens in their press-release pictures are? Not single mark on the lens, which makes it hard to guess anything.

The 2nd button (where the K-mount release normally is) is the traditional location of the "DOF preview" button on Nikon cameras.

K mount ?

in the pictures the unlock button for lens is on right side of body !!!!

Also lokking at body dept it seems too small for K flange focal distance.....maybe adaptors are needed
Ah, it is a Konica mount, finally a new body for my old Hexanon lenses!!!*

*Konicas own mount (before Minolta swallowed them) had the lock button on the right side and a ~40mm focal distance.

Has anyone noticed that this camera does not have a Pentax flash hot shoe? Nor is it Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony...

No need for optics, just getting the lens further from the sensor and accomodate for the bayonet change.
An adapter would be nice to have but the real progress is to take advantage of the disapeared mirror and design lenses especially for this mirrorless mount.

I find it interesting that the lens doesn't show any logo, not even a Schneider one... what's up with that.

It would be a pity if it was not going to be compatible with K-mount but this is a very interesting product and I look forward to see what it delivers.

You are right. So own hot shoe and probably own lens mount (???).
Does this mean Samsung is now going their own way (from Pentax)? Pure speculation...but why would they continue selling bulkier APS-C DSLRs that has not sold very well outside Korea if they go this way?

Who the heck will do their optics?

Yep! It looks more and more like Samsung is spreading it's wings but they they have never produced a lens on their own: who are they going to buy them from?

It would really be a pity to see Samsung leave Pentax in the dust by developping their own lens mount.

Maybe the larger button is AF/MF switch and locking one is in the right place.

The flash looks slightly different but retrocompatible too.
