K300D?? ..and successor to K20D

I tried to google K300D just to see what comes up and I found this interesting topic being discussed in PhotoMalaysia.com.
Here's the link: Rumours! - PhotoMalaysia Community
It talks about a 1.3 crop factor for the new successor to the K20D nearly full frame, an aps-h.
Anyway, I think it's better that you guys just follow the link and see for yourselves and what you think.
It seems like good news though, if it's true.
I just wanted to share what I found, although also a rumour.
As I said, I'm waiting for the next models no matter what!
I see prices of old models dropping down more!

If the rumor is true then all the effort for releasing DA 55 as the 85mm replacement is a moot point now? And the DA 40 / DA 35 will be the true normal instead of FA 31? And dang, the DA 10-17 will be scary wide. That's if the 1.3 crop factor doesnt vignette it of course... Some of the DA lenses like the 50-200 would probably vignette significantly in 1.3 too.

Either way if the K20D price drops even more, I win

Oh and other 1.5 to 1.3 FOV daydreams...:
Takumar 135 becoming Takumar 105
Takumar 24 becoming Takumar 18

Well, we'll see if it comes true or not =b

1.3x will never happen for Pentax.. as it is the only 1.3X cameras are Canon as in..
"These 1.3 x cameras use a sensor 1.3x smaller than 35mm film. These cameras are the professional Canon 1D series, which includes the original Canon 1D, the Canon 1D Mk II, today's Canon 1D Mk II N and the Canon 1D Mk III. "
ALL out of Pentax league. And at the cost it would make more sense to go FF...sorry to say.

Rumours?

Hi guys,

Since these are rumours only I would net get over excited. It might be two more years before those cameras will be released. But I think Pentax should fight more to gain a bigger chunk of the market. Today many people even don't know what Pentax is - seriously! People ask me questions what my blog is about, because Pentax body sounds to them like advertisements of some new body weight loss solutions. They have no clue!

Cheers

Yes you mentioned the FOV thing. But it is still wrong. You have to multiply by 1.3 instead, not divide. A Takumar 24 would show a FOV equivalent to 24*1.3=31 NOT 18

Like I said to the Prez of Pentax France. It is a public perception thing. Brand awareness is sooo essential.
