how many of those lenses are FF compatible..??

I can only guess that for some reason those lenses may be the ones that suts the new body they plan on releasing
I find it amusing to see how creative folks can be when trying to divine that an FF camera is in the works...

The lens that's going up the most is the DA12-24, and it is most definitely NOT a FF lens.

Hi Laree,

I,daresay, it would suck (even more) if they were thinking I will wait until May to pick up
a 50-135 and either a 360FGZ or a 540FGZ On a sidebar, it will really suck (for customers) if retailers decide, on April 1st) to raise their prices accordingly on their existing stock

Cheers from the Greyest City in the World:ugh:

Hi Sean,

About the only amusing thing I can see in these price hikes, is that the DA 12-24
which came down around $250 about a month after I purchased mine is going to be
more expensive now (in April) than when I bought mine

Cheers,

Jack

Regarding DA 55/1.4 (1 large img)& DA 15/4 & DA 60-250 lens pricing // Jack

Hi all,

FWIW, the 55/1.4 and 15/4 and 60-250/4 are not involved in the massive Pentax Price Increase and I believe the reason is, again IMVHO, because they were already "priced" with the increase in mind and I had a chance to play with the DA 55/1.4 (last night)
and YOWZA.... what a sweet lens and very sharp ... here is a photo I took of myself -- using the old "point the camera towards ones self and press the shutter" technique ... here is the photo straight out of the camera and the only resizing was
done by Photobucket ( to a 1 MB file )**EDIT..I resized the photo to 800x600 because the larger me was screwing up the thread **EDIT
.............. and the bloodshot eyes have not been enhanced for sympathy

Hi S_L,
As for Sigma, they have had a couple of price hikes but, to their credit, not as drastic as Pentax
Over in the UK Sigma have put in some serious price increases. The 100-300mm F4 EX has gone from around £780 to around £1125; the 70mm macro from £299 to £385; the 30mm f1.4 from £299 to £395 - these are retail prices, not from the Sigma website.

Ouch Prodigital2000 already raised prices, I wonder if they go even higher?

A couple months ago I considered the 35mm LTD macro for $309 from them.

This was back when they always had 77-80 pentax offers running.

Now the price is up and they have 44 current pentax offers.

I thought about ordering from them but merely putting a sheet of bubble wrap on the factory package turned me off.

For the record, listed prices today (and projected increases) from ProD2K are:

DA 35 MACRO --- $470 (+200)
FA 31/1.8 ---- $966 (+360)
FA 43/1.9 -- $483 (+360)
FA 77/1.8 -- $762 (+280)
DA 50-135/2.8 -- $851 (+640)
DA 300/4 -- $1,182 (+120)
DA 40/2.8 -- $279 (+160)

If those increases are accurate, might be worth putting down on some of the lower lenses just on the resell value alone...

What the heck is happening that all these camera companies are raising their prices by so much? I understand we're in the middle of a MIA Global crisis but really, are they trying to increase margin at the expense of units sold? All that does is cheese off customers.

Japanese Yen is doing very well versus the world economy. The price adjustments are in line with the Yen's recent value.

Because our Dollars (Can, Aussie, US) are worth lower then before - we are now seeing a price hike.

The cost of producing the lenses in Japan still cost the same to them, but selling them for the same prices in other countries when the home country's currency is worth a lot less = a significant reduction in profits.

All that's happening is an evening out of currencies.

Well, selling gear in the rest of the world (outside Japan) with a net loss per sold item is a thing Pentax can't afford I guess.

Funny how people here can't think outside the US$.

Looks like the DA70 is at least still in the same neighbourhood as it was last week.
It's your DA40 you should be happy about! :O
