Picked up FA 77 today from Aden, and got the "lucky you paid for it yesterday!" comment.

I think I paid an average of ~$650 for FA 31, FA77, DA50-135mm, lightly used except for the 77mm. All in the last 6 months

One thing is for sure, if I was just buying into an SLR system from scratch right now, Pentax probably would not get my consideration based on those prices.

Prodigital goes back to being the cheapest for the time being. Not sure they would accept 10% lower than the BIN price on their BIN or BO listings over the next little while.

Hmmm, well, the DA*55 is now selling for the same price as the FA43. That makes the DA*55 in the realm of "cheap" (just $130 more than the lowly often dissed because it's so cheap FA35)

My "expensive" zeiss and voigt stuff now seems "reasonable"

I was just at an Aden location this afternoon and prices should be adjusted on April, just mention it to the salesperson and if they don't honor it...walk away

10 minutes ago I checked Aden's online price for a DA 40mm and nearly fell outta my chair! So of course I headed straight to Pentaxforums and found this thread.

Prodigital's BIN price went up recently from $249 to $279. I don't like where this is going....

I don't know about those prices.

Eg, you said Aden has a DA40 going for $449 Cdn. Everywhere in town (Vancouver, BC) that lens is selling at about $289, I checked Leo's, Kerrisdale, London Drugs, BC Camera. I highly doubt the lens will go up 1/3rd in cost, if it does then whoever sells at that inflated price will be shooting themselves in the foot.

KEH did same with Nikon price increases

On Jan 14th 2009 Nikon announced 18% price hike for Feb 1st 2009. Within hours on Jan 14th KEH raised their prices the full ammount on new gear and adjusted their used gear up accordingly. Many lenses went up several hundred dollars a piece, just like that.

Shop around, Pentax obviously let the dealers know of the price inflation and lucky shop owners get to inflate their inventory. What are you going to do once everyone raised their prices? You want it buy it or regret it and wait months or years for the prices you remember in early 2009 to return.

I'd guess USA is in for same price shock. Dollars like loonies are pretty devalued.
Maybe we in USA won't get a few hours head start before the price spike happens?

I thought for sure Pentax would be immune to the Yen problem being since much of their equiptment is already outsourced to Philippines and Vietnam instead of being made in Japan like Canon and Nikon still does.

Gotta give a big hug to the FA50 and the DA35 ltd. Now all of a sudden the price of the DA*55 and DA15 doesn't seem too bad

I just pulled the trigger on the DA40. TheCameraStore still has it in stock for $290 CAN. Henry's and McBain Camera still has the old price but it is in "special order" now. I've been thinking about getting the DA40; I just can't justify getting it after having both FA50 and DA35 but the new price makes me pulled the trigger. If I don't need the DA40 afterall I think I can still sell it without losing money.

The Canadian price increases weren't supposed to take effect until April, although Henry's warned me in Feb, that they'd be going up at the end of March. The US prices are going up as well. If you visit Aden's site you will see the price they are selling the lenses for and also the new Canadian retail list price, the new retail list prices were leaked a while ago, I suspect you'll see these as the new retail prices for these lenses in Canada with perhaps certain stores being able to sell them for less.

Prices in Australia have already risen due to the high Aussie dollar vs the US dollar. I can't see them taking another hit, but who knows?
