I hope it works out for you.
I read somewhere, maybe in another thread in here that any pentax lens not in dealers hands on 3-31-09 or "backordered", the old price would not be honored. Nikon did same thing on their late 2008-2009 country by country price increases, in not honoring both unpaid and paid for backorders. Last Fall canon did simialar except they cancelled all orders not deliverable before price increase and made dealers get back inline to reorder. Canon did a 3% price increase, not the 18% to 40% Nikon and Pentax are implementing.
I think Pentax thinks 50-135mm 2.8 SDM is really a "75-202mm" 2.8 and the now want to price it accordingly. $1750 Canadian is insane money for it , or Loonies. But its likely one of pentax best SDM so maybe they just want top dollar for it? After conversion my Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS purchase from March 2008 ran me same money as 50-135mm 2.8 SDM is priced at today. and my IS 200mm has 200mm reach ,not 135mm cropped edges, isolated view "202mm"
I've heard nothing about Pentax USA price increases. Pentax is doing a great job remaining quiet if a 40% price increase is due here too.
Houses are cheaper, cars are cheaper, computers are cheaper, yet camera equiptment is more expensive. I sure don't want to spend 40% more on something I haven't bought up till now.

because the same lenses are cheaper! (Or is SDM and a rubber gasket worth $750?)
Glad I ordered my 50-135 last week at the
old price... now if it only would arrive and put my mind at ease!
