they have made some improvements since they last exhibited the digital 645.
this is the version I got to handle, and the ergonomics were top notch...the viewfinder needed a bit of work to live up to the standard the original Pentax 645NII set...I hope they have remedied that.

I'm in total agreement with Digtalis when he states:

Hasselblad marketing…….saying that a 48mm square digital sensor was full frame when it was anything BUT full frame on medium format ?

Regrettably Hasselblad are not the only culprits in this respect and with the passing of time, I find myself becoming evermore irritated with reviewers and advertisers who continually keep referring to larger digital cameras with cropped-sensors as Medium Format….which they are categorically NOT !
However much the marketing types might keep attempting to move the goalposts in this respect, a 36 x 44mm sensor ain't MF whichever way you cut it…….period !
The primary reason for my frustration is that I still own a number of fabulous Mamiya MF lenses including a treasured Mamiya Shift C 50mm f/4 which I am dying to use in conjunction with a genuine 60mm x 45mm-sensored digital body…..so near and yet so far……ggrrrrrrr !!!

BTW, 645 format is NOT 6x4,5 centimeters. You might want to check your facts.:ugh:

The two black buttons are for power zoom. (OK, probably not.)

Did a quick dig on what's available out there and crop factors:

full frame medium format size: 50.7x39mm (only the Phase One back AFAIK)
Mamiya 645zdb: 36 x 48mm (roughly 1.2?)
Leica S2: 30 x 45 mm (roughly 1.3)
Hassy-31: 33 x 44mm (roughly 1.3)
Hassy-39 & 50: 37 x 49mm (roughly 1.1)
Pentax 645D: 36 x 44mm (roughly 1.3)

And nearly everything is 1-1.2 Frames/sec...Canon 1DmkIII users don't have to be worried

According to the infallible Wikipedia, the most common aspect ratios are 6×6*cm (square) and 6×4.5*cm (rectangular). The last time I checked, 6cm = 60mm, 4.5*cm= 45mm ?

O.K. You might like to try out an interesting experiment should the opportunity ever arise. Simply attach a Mamiya Shift C 50mm f/4 lens to any of Mamiya's current range of so-called MF digital bodies and see what happens. A sizable portion of both the top & side coverage seen through the viewfinder fails to fully materialise on the final image is what happens !!! I should know because I tried this procedure in abject futility once myself in a well-known London photographic store. Considering that dealerships are reputed to be charging somewhere in the region of approx $20,000.00 for Mamiya's new DL33, I'm afraid I remain distinctly under-whelmed by this latest announcement.

I thought 645 meant 60x45 too. Weird, I wonder why Pentax called it 645 instead of the correct 564? Same numbers different sequence.

In fact its easy to find this same mistake on numerous websites I just googled up. Heres one with 645N specs thay say image size is 56x41. 31mp kodak sensor is 48x36 so plug this into your crop factor computer please? While doing this plug in full frame 24x36 too? Just curious how a full frame canon with K-645 adapter mounted on a 5D crops out too. Thanks Ken.

I have a full blown case of CBA (camera buying addiction) and no cure in sight.

Now, few questions need to be answered - 1) do I need one? No. 2) do I want one? Yes yes yes. 3) am I a pro or am I going to print big? No. 4) so what am I going to do with this camera? I don't know. I will show it to those canikonites and make them so jealous. Also, I assume that by just acquiring a MF digi, I will be a better photographer.

So far so good. Only one question remains. How am I going to afford this? Hey, is anyone interested in a kidney?

Or the alternate option is opening a "give subho a digi MF for his birthday fund". People, fellow pentaxians......please donate generously. Your help is very very appreciated.

645 is just an aspect ratio, not the actual image size. It's more intuitive than calling it 5641 format

What are these buttons?

Well, since the button shows a hexagon inside a frame, and since the green hexagon is the AF locked signal, I suspect this button selects the AF points (center only, any point, selected point).
