Is Pentax coming out with anything new? There competition is killing them. I am a sports photographer and would like a faster fps.

Think Canon.
Think EOS-1Ds Mk III.

Pentax really isn't focused on faster FPS for sports photography. There are many people doing great action-photo work with Pentax equipment anyway, but if that's your primary need, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Yes, sport photographers should think Canon and their 1D series for much faster AF, system response and high fps.

Pentax is not for that application.

If you are a sport photographer, why did you buy a Pentax, did you not do any research?

I'd drop the "s" and think 1D Mk III.

1D Mark III is an incredible camera. I would only wish that I have more budget to own this camera.

Prices are coming down, though it is certainly not cheap by any stretch of imagination. The Mark II can be had for around $1k these days though, and that is an amazing bargain. In fact, the II seems to be a hell of a lot easier to get to work right since it doesn't have the massively configurable AF system the III does. I've heard from several pros that they actual prefer using the II in most cases since there aren't a billion parameters to tweak to optimize the AF for a particular type of shooting. (I think there's only a few you can really tweak, like how long it should try to track a subject that disappears before giving up entirely -- e.g. if you're shooting soccer and somebody runs behind somebody else and disappears temporarily while the camera's still tracking their path...)

Actually the 20d has the fastest drive system out. The problem is that my cell phone takes bigger pictures than it does at max speed, rendering it pretty useless. Now if for the "30D" they would build it up to drive that 20 fps at 14mp...

oh yea, and keep the price the same...
