Latest on DA*60-250mm?

OK I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death but I was in Barnes & Noble looking at photo magazines and I saw brief descriptions in two separate ones on the DA*60-250mm. They implied it was new for 2009. It's even on the Pentax Imaging web site. Has this lens finally been released?

As I understand it, it's specifically designed for photographing griffins and unicorns ;~)

Many Australian shops have been told mid-late April also. They have even put a telephone number of a price on it. So while it may be available at that time, it is not going to be available to me at that time.

I still say I'm more likely to see a Sasquatch in Florida than one of those in a shop.

You Win !

Nobody carrys Pentax locally now, even though pentax usa lists several WalMarts in my zip code region, none carry any pentax equiptment. You want a touchable 60-250? Doubtful. But pay your $1800 plus delivery and you'll have one in next month. Issue is $1,799 in USA right? I forget, or is it $1499. I wonder why Pentax hasn't put an official price on it yet?

Usually, if there is no price, they don't have a stock of them yet. When the price goes on the site, that will be an indicator that they are shipping or close to it.

Hi there

I'm pretty convinced I once saw a real live haggis thundering through the misty undergrowth up in the Scottish highlands, but unfortunately it lost it's footing and came crashing violently down the hillside where it met an unfortunate end by the edge of the lakeside, only to be voraciously consumed by a passing Loch Ness Monster !
But to tell the absolute truth, I've yet to see an actual DA* 60-250mm, yes siree !! One day maybe, if I'm really lucky. Anyhow, I must go now as I have to attend to the pixies at the bottom of my garden……bye now !

Best regards
Richard

P.S: Incidentally, wouldn't you be more likely to see a Sasquatch in Saskatchewan ? Now where on earth did I put down my hip-flask of Glenfiddich....hic ?

Earlier today, I was in Leo's Cameras on Granville Street in Vancouver, BC Canada. They actually have shelf space designated for the 60-250 DA* with the price of $1749.00. No lens yet, but it should be here this month (April 2009). However all of the other lenses have also increased in price. I grabbed a 50-135 last week when I heard about the price jump. They now have theirs listed at something like $1600.00. I believe it will be here, but that's a huge price to pay for the 60-250. The only good thing is that it will also increase the price of used gear if you have any to sell.

Probably not so much until US prices go up.

But ya, my wife and I each grabbed the 50-135 just before it went up. Beautiful lens.
