Yes, it looks that way. I hope Pentax can get some guarantees from Hoya regarding the camera side of things and they can come to a new agreement. I personally think Pentax needs a partner with deeper pockets, but not Samsung. I had both hopes and worries over the merger as originally stated.

I am not at all unhappy about the breakdown. Pentax was too much of a junior partner in this arrangement and junior partners don't have a history of doing well. I have very little hard information to bring to the discussion, so all I can say is I am suspicious that Hoya's interest was mainly in the Pentax optical division.

Mergers do not have a happy history for smaller companies.
