You can't have "both" versions on the same camera...
That's true, of course - <g>.

However, in the context of the statement, "Updatable models [-] K20D digital SLR cameras running Firmware Ver. 1.00 and Ver.1.01", the "updatable models" are K20D's running V.1.00 ~and~ K20D's running V.1.01 - that is to say V.1.03 will update both ~situations~.

I have noticed no improved AF speed over the weekend using Sigma EX 70-200/2.8 plus 1.4x TC.

k20d fw v.1.03

I've noticed improvements to my k20d with this upgrade.
-Really better SR with DA 18-250 expecially at long end
-Better measurement in multi segment (a little clear image than before)
-White balance presets seem to look better

I just did the firmware upgrade V 1.0.3 for my Pentax K1000 and now it doesn't accept the 35mm film canister's anymore!!! I am REALLY pissed!!! As I have at least 500 rolls of film in my refrigerator, what am I going to do?. It does make all of my non-AF lenses Auto Focus and miraculously there is now a 3" viewing screen on the back and a new RAW button, new battery grip, 32 megapixel sensor and a totally new ad campaign that also miraculously appeared before my very eyes on the computer screen as soon as I uploaded the firmware...What gives? I'm a NEWBE here...Help!!!!

Ben, try the Polaroid back instead of the 35mm film. Everything should work fine then.

Ben, even without any lenses mounted, you probably still take better pictures than any of us.

I didn't get a chance to read all 8 pages, but is there a way to tell what the firmware is in body? I just received mine from repairs and they cleaned the body the and made "adjustments", just not sure if they upgraded my firmware.

I guess I can check with PhotoME...

Push and hold the “Menu” button as you turn on the camera.

Will all settings of personal choise remain when updating firmware?

Will firmware be different in different regions of the world or is there only THE ONE firmware?

- All settings remains (1.01->1.03), no problems, more snappy AF camera after, but SR still start little late.

Haven't read the whole post, but don't you think they may have quietly included the improved AF algorithms made for the k7?
What better way to field-test it than using a proven camera?

It makes sense, no?

well the K7 originally was the K30 so is possible.

who knows...by the time the official firmware for the K7 is released, might have another update for the older K series later on.

Depends on Hoya marketing strategy...at its current price the K20D is bloody irresistable but if its photo taking performance becomes on par or very close with the K7, could affect sales as not everybody needs the K7 extra features.

Remember, when the K20D came out with its official firmware..a lot of optical and feature set comparisons were made even against camera more then twice the K20D`s price including the D700 and even 1D and 5D cameras. Thats just how good k20d is...lots of expectations with K-7 now...can it optically challenge the D3 and A900 both more then 20MP cameras.
