May I remind You that it was you proposing to play with the focal length: "try a long fast lens next time"
sure you may . i also noted in the first post that it might mean a big change to the way the man shoots (and thus might not be worth it). i was just acknowledging one other issue related to fov (as you had already pointed out the purely technical issues related to fov).

From the earlier press kit photo, it looked like the knob on the right side of the mount would be nothing.

This new, higher resolution image may indicate that this knob does indeed carry a button...
Doesn't matter if it has button or not, I really wonder what this knob is for.

Why was there no "D" at the end again? Huh?

The surface of new DA18-55 WR is the same. What does it mean?

D - digital. And Pentax avoid the marking of models like Canon/Nikon/Olympus/Sony. It's great move.

No any sense now in D. All cameras are digital.

The new types of plastic are better than magnesium alloy.
The reinforced plastic body with steel frame is not worse.

To my eye it looks like this body is plastic not metal. Its hard to tell because the lighting is clearly carefully controlled but the way it is relecting of the body looks very much like how my DS looks in that kind of light.

Mag Alloy bodies look ever so slightly more matt. I could easily be wrong because its not a live shot but that's what I think anyway.

Lol, firstly Alloys do not have exactly the same properties of there parent materials. and second even if they were silly enough to make it out of pure magnesium (or an alloy that is mostly Mg) you'd still only have to worry about shooting in a burning building or being struck by lightning. or if your jetson-y enough to be shooting with fuel cell batteries you'd have to worry about them exploding.

1) AF that can be adjusted separately for daylight/tungsten light.

and

2) AF that can have at least (in some kind/shape/form) different adjustments for zoom lenses (wide end - tele end).

w/ that I can even live (for a while...) w/ a slow AF (what is the point to have it fast and wrong)

and

3) AF adjustment system to be automated - I mean if you have CDAF then use it, damn it, to find necessary adjustments for PDAF in a more automated way, finally ! point to a target, use CDAF and PDAF to focus separately and record the difference between CDAF and PDAF... sounds like a pure software task
How about an accurate AF that doesn't need adjustments?

i couldn't agree with you more. alas, this higher res pic of the K-7 effectively confirms the front dial is the same turd plastic we're used to.

surprising that for a company that prides itself on ergonomics, Pentax skimps on the dials. its these little details which the user interacts with the most that leave the lasting impression of quality.

....so is that an AF lamp or what?
Actually it doesn’t look at all as the front dial on my K10, this one looks more as if it where coated with rubber or something. Though personally I don’t have a problem with the old type.

(How does the forum "multiqoute" button work?)

I know from close personal experience that many magnesium alloys, for instance used in engineblocks, wheelcovers etc., burn as fierce.... And boy is it fun if you put water on them...
