The more I think about this the more uses I can think of for the mic jack and video for still photographers. I'm thinking field notes recorded between frames as one example. For some of my architectural shoots that might be a biggy. The sound trigger idea would let me get some of those balloon popping, bullet stopping shots without having to add another external device.

If it could trigger the shutter it would be a real treat for action photographers. Imagine the pop of a glove on the face at a boxing match tripping the shutter at the precise moment of apex. I can see a lot of still image uses for some of these new "video" features beyond the obvious.

A230, 330 and 380 are the same A200, 300, 350 with redesign...
Funny or not, the K-M is going to be a tough sale in that sector of SLR's over one of those models. My mother has an A200. That little camera blows me away every time I use it. It's too small and has too much plastic for my liking, but the AF works so well I don't even consider the D40/60 to be in it's league. I was in a near dark room the other day messing with it and it had no problem locking onto my 4lb dog running around on the floor. It's a near perfect first SLR; especially at only $500.

The A200 is a great no-frills camera, without doubt a lot of value for the money. I don't like the 300/350, though, the LV solution makes the optical viewfinder a pain to use (at least it felt so when I tried one of them in a shop) - it's even smaller than most other APS-C viewfinders and the protruding screen is annoying if you don't have a very small nose.

You know the thread has gone far off course when the most off topic post in 3 pages is the only post thats actually on topic.
You know it's the best thread ever when people randomly start talking about cargo pants, and the thread continues on, undaunted

You are right, the A300 & A350 are turds. The LV system works really well on them if that's you're thing, but if you want to use the OVF primarily then the A200 is the way to go. Plus it's cheaper to boot.

You did realize you were buying champagne for this round, right? That was a $2,000 post, virtually speaking.

I was A200/A300 user. My opinion - SONY can't make cameras at all.
it's the worst in functional cameras with awfull noise from ISO400 and above,
VERY noisy AF, no good material and construction of body.
Primitive cameras with bad kit lens. AF is not much better than Pentax.

Oh man. I have to do that and somehow still afford the K-7?

I better start selling blood...

Really? The kit lens is a cheap little thing for sure, but has a good range. It's a cheap plastic camera, but so is the D60, Rebel, and K-M. What can you expect for $500 with lens? Noise-wise it's no worse then my old K10D. I refused to ever shoot the K10D over ISO800, and I was always uneasy using ISO800 too because you never knew when vertical banding might show up.

ISO 800? Brave man - My K10D noise tolerance threshold is set at ISO 400, and that's iffy.

Hey, I got this one at ISO1600. But that was my one an only keeper at ISO1600 with the K10D, and I had to do some serious PP'ing on that one. Noise Ninja + an Alien Skin film filter made it usable.
