Does anybody know what happen with the Chinese guy (is he Chinese or working for Pentax in China?) who posted these secret blurry photos of K7?

Hes on vacation in a Chinese work camp. He should be out by the time Pentax comes out with the K9 :ugh:

Say, on the Chinese Pentax site, there is a profile picture that shows more of the lower part of the camera than I have seen before from the side:
PENTAX??-????-??????????-NEW K

Interesting how the grip actually extends beyond the flash/prism head isn't it?
Thanks for the link. It looks a lot like the MZ-1 high-end film cam, which was never released.
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-film-slr-discussion/22338-pentax-mz-1-a.html

Same big Prism, same strap lug placement, same form factor / design. And same placement of shutter, set by itself below main camera top. (Maybe the MZ1 even had AF assist light).

The MZ-series was a big comeback for Pentax. Great design that just felt good in the hand. And different from what else was around at that time.

As the shutter wheel is not there on the K7, then that side of the camera resembles more the MZ 7 / MZ 6 / MZ 10.

If the Iso bottom is separate, I hope that it is easy to use. Like just holding it down in front of white wall, and it will have set manual white balance.

Actually, the battery meter is changed.

The image shows a three segment meter as press kit photos did anticipate. Previous Pentax have a 2 segment meter.
This makes the image look authentic to me.
A faked one would probably have included the focal plane mark right to the display which is missing from the photo. So, the photo probably is from an early unit.

Wrong. On the previous models the battery meter only had two positions; it's three in the K-7.

Saving that image of the K-7 in my dedicated K-7 directory. Something to motivate me while I'm working my ass off and saving for the NEW K.

Just looked at that battery meter again and it looks like it's divided into four parts. I could be wrong tho.

I can't believe that we're discussing the battery meter. We must be desperate for new info.

I think that this part of the K-7 is public now
A crop from the press kit, a bit processed, shows it is a three segment meter. It also confirms the permanent ISO display.

Interesting... We can now see the "bulge" next to the mirror box. Would it be true that this bulge is for the mirror motor?

WTF?!!?

If Pentax is making their own Noctilux and letting you shoot it at 1/8000, I will do a backflip.
This may be attributed to some pre-beta firmware, although 1/8000 might be realistic

The thought that bugs my mind: if the camera, at any point of time, had a firmware which would incorrectly report aperture and shutter speed, it may mean that the camera internal mechanisms underwent a more or less extensive redesign.

I would hope that this image confirms that the K-7 would be much more than just a repackaged K20D...
