This would also explain Mr. N. Bunnell's exploration of the "small and metal" Leica/ Panasonic. I have a funny feeling Mr. Pres' recent mention of "the soul of the camera" is a way to lessen technical expectations and heighten emotional and tactile expectations.
But you made a great point (which I nedglected to quote): it's a camera. Giving it "a soul" is much harder than giving it a big spec sheet. (Ever read the "specs" of an M4?) I mean, if Pentax is going to continue to be a "niche brand" they may as well be on the high-end, right? "High value" doesn't neccessarily mean "cheap." Look at the Limited lenses...
Oh, and this thing should have JPEG-HDR and EXR output (from a full floating-point processor pipeline) or I'll ditch Pentax forever and move on to... on to... well, crap!
