It's just the highest resolution the sensor can output, in it's native format (3:2). Upscaling and cropping a little gives you Full HD, that's good for me. 720p is already great anyway.

It looks like the in-camera HDR is only 3 frames but the camera will bracket 5 frames.

I'll take the 5 frames and PP the HDR!

it's at the side of the flash-housing, see the 2 small dots? I think that's the internal mic.

I wonder how did they seal those mic openings

I noticed this blurb in the press release:

Every PENTAX K-7 purchased includes an exclusive coupon for up to 15 percent savings on a variety of PENTAX products. More information about all of these products is available at: PENTAX Digital Cameras and DSLRs - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

Anybody know where to find the list of discounted items?

will wait for the Japanese introduction. they'll have the last say. Also almost all are pre-production cameras. Guess were in for a more surprise later.

hey there Dave, get over it.

During a release like this there WILL be dupe posts. so what.

Do you really think you add anything by being the internet police and chastising everone who does not meet your level of "look before you post"?

Really. Calm down.

If a DSLR is capable of taking video would it not be extremely useful to have some type of power zoom control? Maybe that's what those buttons are for...or maybe not.

Type/construction - PENTAX KAF2 bayonet stainless steel mount; Usable lenses - PENTAX KAF3, KAF2, KAF, and KA (K mount, 35mm screwmount, 645/67 med format lenses useable w/ adapter and/or restrictions); SDM function - Yes; Power zoom function: Yes

Interesting. I wonder when new versions of the power zooms with be released?

Thank you
Russell

The review here OK1000 Pentax Blog

implies that you can only manually focus in video mode. Is that true?

Yep, that was my experience with the engineering sample that Chris showed me. I ended up switching to Manual Focus mode while I tried out HD video mode. I hope it might not be a problem with the shipping iteration, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

One of the things that would be neat would be a way to trigger the AF Assist light while you're in Manual Focus mode in dim light, but I didn't see that on the camera. There are lots of things we won't know until it's shipping.

This camera has kicked my LBA for the DA Limiteds and the 31 and 77 into high-gear. Someday, those lenses and this camera will be mine.

Did we ever get a price estimate on what those weather sealed lenses are going to cost?
