new grip means new chance to get it right. sony seems to be closest so far in understanding that if you are going to have a grip then you need to supply the same buttons in both orientations. the omit of an af button on the k10d k20d grip was a major pain for those that used af button to focus.

then again maybe there wont be a grip if what they want is to make it so small.

What is it to the right (on picture, left on camera) just beside and in height with the trigger?
it's the left strap lug. It can be seen easier on some of the other shots that have circulated.

The other side. May be an AF assist light as some people guess.

Man, look at the curve on the rear grip of this camera. It may be small, but it looks like it is going to have an ergonomic shape similar to a computer mouse.

if it really have AF assist lamp, I would say this is not Pentax DSLR, they outsourced it to third party company.

I am going to just fantasize for a moment, that this feature IS REALLY AF Assist lamp...

i thought that too at first but search the thread for a pic of a K10D from almost that same point of view. it's the same rear upper right thumb ridge in the K10/20 by the AE-Lock, just looks funny and really sticks out from that angle.

The wording of the teaser ad seems to say that the K7 is a successor to a previous Pentax camera. Any Pentax historians want to take a guess at which one its reffering to? The LX mabye?

i still hope it'll be called K-x. successor to, well, KX.

okay, i can play with K7 name, too - successor to K2. you know, K2 + 2 generations of manual cameras + 2 generations of AF cameras + 1 generation of digital cameras = 7! K7!
