Hi.

The lens is, most certainly, the smc PENTAX DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited. Please see here and compare:

PENTAX DA Limited Macro Lens for Digital SLRs and Compacts: smc PENTAX DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited

So this is probably the new Pentax APS-C flaship. The grip has a new shape, more in line with the 645D as well as a new prism.

Let me guess: this could be a picture of the K20D successor, possibly an engineering sample or pre-production model. The origin of those images is a Windows Live blog whose owner I believe is a Pentax employee works at Pentax Shanghai. This guy was also one of the first to post DA*55 real-world samples a few months back. I remember him writing on his blog talking about his hands-on of the DA*55 and the new Aero Bright Coating the lens had.

It appears that the new body has a different form factor, quite possibly smaller than the K10D/K20D. My guess is that it will not be compatible with the D-BG2 grip any more. I just hope the D-LI50 / NP400 battery can still be used on this but I have totally no idea if that's the case. I'm just guessing.

This is probably the camera scheduled for summer release. However, this camera was supposed to be conceptually somewhat different form the K-series cameras. It doesn't look that way to me; it looks very similar to the existing Pentax DSLR's. It doesn't seem smaller either....

If not for the fact that I think the upcoming 30mp Pentax MF camera uses the original 645's lenses, I'd say this was a rework of it.

buzz

with the new canon a few weeks ago and Nikon's announcement of the D5000 today it does seem well timed and just teasing enough to make people hold off on any purchases

I know i'm holding back on up grading my DL

that someone (the op) very much in the know hopes to create some buzz on forums with this shot, and it seems planned to me .

Either way, good to actually see an image of another Pentax camera in the works imo.

Not much there but enough to get juices flowing.

Thanks for the wow.

I am not that satisfied with the result (because I still cannot read most of the text on the lens). Sometimes, the blur can be removed more satisfactory.

Since you ask:
I used FocusMagic which offers two kernels (point spread functions PSF), one for motion blur, another one for defocus blur. FocusMagic reverts a PSF by some sort of regularized deconvolution which consistently delivers better results than Photoshop Unsharp Masking. FocusMagic refuses to publish more technical details.

I applied a motion blur deconvolution which requires two parameters: angle and length (actually, there is a third parameter which can read 'forensic' but which I left at 'digital camera' -- it tells the algorithm how much noise is in the input image).

I figured with photography enthusiasts we would at least be able to get decent spy shots since, after all, this IS photography.
It's funny, because it's true!

Also, where are the CSI image enhancement specialists when you need them?

Can you modify this image so that the lettering on the front of the camera says Pentax.....

Yeah. Especially when it comes to enlarge a single pixel into a detailed face they really excel In German TV, CSI specialists tend to say "sorry, bring me a better camera then"

Studying the images more closely - some observations that might be wrong:

1. Possibly slimmer grip than on the K10/20D
2. Fasteners for the camera strap similar to the ones on the MZ-S: ie "old" style.
3. Left side dial different design as the one on the K20D; not such a tall dial - nor is the cameras shoulder sloping away from the prism. The dial seem of a "flat", more flush design with similarities to the MZ-S.
4. The camera may have sloping top panel similar to the MZ-S and the 645Digital but less pronounced.

It seems like having MZ-S design elements and have family resemblances to the 645 Digital.

Do you remember the rumor - new camera will be higher, but body is more compact.
