It is Chinese, actually.
JP (the blog author) did not write or elaborate much on those photos.

In picture one, he wrote the caption: "Pentax Spy shot, photo from the internet, will continue tomorrow". In the comment, he wrote "Note, I wrote 'photo from the internet'.".

In picture two, caption said "picture from the internet". In the comments, he wrote "Everybody is mistaken about picture 1, actually there is a mouse at the back."

In picture three caption, he wrote "the mode dial looks like Sony Alpha, you have to the press the middle button before you can turn the mode dial."
Thank you for that and sorry for mistaking Chinese to Japaneses... I wish I could read any of them

He/she must be smiling or laughing while sitting back in his/her chair reading all of these guessing comments.
...but this what makes life interesting, doesn't it?
Ah, it's fun. I like puzzles.

If that were the case they would have provided a "beak" like the K20D and others. In addition, I don't believe that Pentax have made prism tall only in order to get the built-in flash high enough. Particularly not form a company that claim they will make compact and though cameras. There's definitely something with the finder of that camera and it has nothing to do with flash.
Hey, Pal maybe... what it is is they pushed the mirror box *forward* in the camera, so that behind it there could be some nice finder magnification, , and underneath that extra space, room to tuck away one of those swivelley LCDs some seem to want without forcing people's faces away from the eyepiece.

That could very well be. After all, thats similar to what they have done with 645's....

Well, the D700 doesn't seem to have the lens mount pushed forward in that way, ...there's an overhang there which this Pentax does not have. ...I do think this portends something a little new and different: there must be *something* in there, even if the scale's the same or smaller, I'd think.

One of the guys on the Pentaxusers site found this.....
Pentax Patented a new Pentaprism last year and this housing seems to match the shape. Lower and deeper.

PATENT

Certainly looks interesting.

Well, my interest is certainly piqued. Sure looks to me like the guys at Pentax have been getting creative.

And, wow, Mark, that looks pretty wild. It could certainly account for the deeper box, if that's in proportion. You may have cracked the mystery.

It seems to extend very far but this is possibly an illusion based on the fact that the non-mirrorbox areas af the camera are very thin. It has a slimmer body than the K20D...
It might actually look like that. If Pentax need to maintain a certain registration distance, keep the SR mechanism AND increase the size of the viewfinder WHILST still shrinking the overall size perhaps the Mirror box housing / 'main body bit' is actually slightly deeper but the rest of the camera (left shoulder and grip) are slimmed down to make the whole thing feel a lot smalller. Angular design features added to this would make a camera that you look slightly odd but actually be quite compact without comprimising on features.
