That is correct.

great find. massive prism, retro looks, seems aimed squarely at the serious photographer crowd and if the specs are right, should be a big hit.

why's nobody talking about the fully blurred camera at the top of the picture? is that the new consumer model further away from announcement?

I never said it should be heavy.
Actually, The K20D weights MORE than the Nikon D90 (715g vs. 620g), but still the D90 looks much better in terms of "professional look".

You can make fun and decry as much as you want, but there are some situations where a "show-off" is necessary - and can actually make you money (e.g. making good impression on a potential customer).

Trying to make the camera "as small as possible!!!!!111oneone" is silly.
This is DSLR for crying out loud, not a MP3-Player.
Battery grips aren't very expensive. If I were a camera-ignorant consumer, I might find a Canon Rebel w/ battery grip more impressive than a 5D II on its own.

I don't think they're trying to make it as "small as possible," just smaller than it is. And I can appreciate that. I wouldn't mind, in general, if my K20D were a bit more compact. Of course, I do love that comfy grip, but from the photos we've seen I think they've done their best to keep the grip the same while making the camera as a whole more compact.

Melander, that's just how the rear dial looks on the back of my K20D.

Because it probably isn't one but just a brochure, but probably for somethink that should not be public (yet)

I was wondering the same. The edges have been deliberately blurred. Kind of looks like a spec/promo sheet to me, but for which camera? Who knows.

someone with a 35DA limited and a K10/20D please take a pic of their setup from this latest angle for a direct comparison. how much smaller is this cam really? I still wish it was shallower.

Moreover,
I want to see how you will react if a "professional camera man" will come to photograph at your wedding - with a P&S camera.

Just to end the discussion about this particular photo ...
It is a K20D. You can actually read the camera name in my deblurred version of the image. Enjoy

I don't think pentax is interested in producing a "pro-sized" DSLR body.

The market they are going after is to be the niche camera that is small, great handleing, and all the features a photographer would want. But without the size

My guess is that they intend to sell this camera to Canikon users that have the full D3 and 1D kit, but want a smaller full featured, high quality camera to use on days they are not working for pay.

Maybe this was the message Ned Brunell was sending when he blogged about his Leica?

Is it just me or is the new eye-cup totally different in shape and much bigger?

Not just you. It looks bigger to me also. I'm betting this camera has a killer viewfinder.

You are probably right.
However, I'm pretty satisfied with the K20's size, when adding the grip to it.

I sure hope that the K30 will at least have the same size as the K20.
With better features, it will still be better in terms of "features-to-inch"...
