It's still usable even if the settings are accessible only from the menu.

What about the US name?

K-m : K2000 :: K-7 : ?

In other words, if we are following a similar naming convention to the K-m/K2000, will the K-7 have a different name in the US?

Remember this is not a replacement for the K20D but something new. There is still room for another K30D body as I don't think the K7 is the K20D replacement but will be like the MZ-S, tho I am still holding out some hope that they release a digital upper spec cam in the MZ-S styled body.
Well, this could be pretty similar to the MZ-S dimensionswise, at least by the time you have the respective grips in place. As for my own concerns, I have plenty of time to see how this all shakes out: having a K20d is way ahead of where I expected to be at this stage with digital bodies, as it is, anyway: it wouldn't bother me at all if there was an improved K20d out there, by the time I'm shopping again, as exciting as this 'K7' looks to be. This K20d just *fits* my hands in a way that's a major asset all on its own. My performance requirements are pretty modest, actually: I could probably always use better high-ISO and a nicer finder, though. I'm sure there'll be something tempting about the new one, of course.

Oof. I hope not. That'd be a piece of engineering hubris. Even burying the SR in a menu would not be a happy thing. You want to turn that on once in a while.

And assuming that the SR stills turns itself off with 2-sec timer (and mirror lock-up, if the new camera has it), there is not much point in an external SR button, IMHO.

I hope not. Unless they've implemented fantastic power management which means its impact on battery life is minimal so I can just leave it on all the time. Lots of photograph doesn't need it on but its nice to have direct access to it with a button for those shots that do.

I still don't really trust it, or need it when I'm feeling well: it's better on the K20d since the firmware update, but I still think it has the potential to foul an already-steady shot. I'd just as soon have the switch, ...one less thing to remember, if nothing else.

Hmm you had best be able to turn it off in the menus or maybe its more intelligent so doesn't function at really slow shutter speeds i.e 1/2 a second or more when you'd put it on a tripod, or really fast speeds too like above 1/500th

To be honest I always leave SR on apart from tripod work as it causes the camera to shake a little hence not so sharp images.

But what if I want to hand hold the camera with SR OFF?
I do this often to practice my hand holding skill using big lenses.

OGL, when you say that, does it mean ON all the time or can we still turn it OFF manually?

Btw, congrats on your #1000 post. I think this thread can go up to 2000th easily if more info leaked slowly.

Hmm...wonder how Ben is gonna beat this thread :P
