Contrast AF in video mode is news to me (Canon 5Dmkii lacks this feature).
As is 77 zone contrast AF for still images.
Or 77 zone light metering probably making for perfect exposures in LV

I don't think the 5d MKii has a mic imput? Can anyone confirm?

Canon has a video camera industry to protect. Is Pentax obligated to protect Samsung's?

Maybe one of the Video experts on the forum could expand on this, but I understood the 5Dii has no way to syc sound with video.

Would you expect the K-7 to allow this? Would that be a first in the industry (VDSLR's)?

no, it does not... it can be a firmware (software) trick like Canon does

Maybe it's been mentioned elsewhere in the forum, but is it possible the new model has a split focus screen? it would appear to hint at it from the image. i'd imagine it would be a good compliment to the Limiteds quickshift and be a 'link' to the heritage of the older models.

Om81 (guy who posted a few small pictures of various K-7 parts in Russian forum) hinted that K-7 won't have matte focussing screen:
"Обидно.. я так привык к матовому стеклу

Можно было наводить ручные объективы".
Translation: "Dissapointing... I used to matte screen so much

It was possible to focus manual lenses".
Try do decrypt what he meant

By the way, he also hinted that body of K-7 won't be magnesium alloy.

I knew more info would leak out but some of the specs are scarey, partially not believeable like the 5fps and 77 metering zones. I would believe 3.5fps with a 5 fps 6mp mode yes.

I Know this will be a ground breaking camera but I hope the rumors won't get our hopes up too high, but if Rice is so excited maybe it will live up to the hype.

Nope. I'm really excited!

I have reservations on the reliability and performance of the metering, P-TTL and AF systems, though. But I shall try them out very soon once the goods are there!

Metering and Pttl probably will be the same, count on 1/3 under exposures and needing metz flashes that get pttl right. I do hope the AF improves as it's real issue is in low light but that built in lamp may change things.

So Rice is actually excited, I was getting the tone and he has verified that this actually might get some praise from him if it lives up to the hype.
