Blah, so it sounds like business as usual. I really wish Pentax would take their own advice and be interesting. If this camera is made of magnesium then make a silver version (if its plastic don't bother), sue a square sensor or APS-H sensor. Something, anything to stand out a bit. I personally was really hoping for APS-H. I even started calculating some of the lens by 1.25. the 17-70mm would become a 22-87mm. Now to me that is interesting. A standard zoom that starts in the ultra wide territory.
I think you meant it would become the equivalent field of view from a 22-87mm instead of the equivilent of a 25.5-105mm - people may get confused

new version perhaps? kit version perhaps?

EDITED* DOH, just realized this is probably a B&W image.
damn, i thought the same, but also forgot about b&w image.

actually, it *is* black-and-white image - there's red aligning dot visible, but it's gray.
and all other marking on the lens looks exactly like DA*55.

By verifiable source I mean we have no way of verifying his claims. HE is not a source himself - e.g. he isn't a photograph of a product brochure etc.

He has already said he has got most of this from somone who is under NDA but again we have no way of verfiying this.

I am not saying he is right or wrong. All I am saying is the hype and expectation that has been built up is mostly predicated on his blog and posts he and Ogl have made.

I just want to remind people of that before we get hundreds of threads posted by disappointed people after the 21st of May.

For what?

I know that Rice's information is almost 100% real.
I have official information about K-7 and I can compare.

I heard that when 5D came out there were so much speculation and so many unsubstantiated rumors that many people have actually perished. There are people who still suffers from post speculative stress disorder(PSSD), and to this day they cannot work up a courage to push that shutter button one last time. I guess we should be careful.

From the earlier press kit photo, it looked like the knob on the right side of the mount would be nothing.

This new, higher resolution image may indicate that this knob does indeed carry a button...
No button there. Just the room for mirror motor.

I just don't understand how it can be excellent when the k10 and probably even the k100 perform better...

I tend to trust must of what you and RH are putting forwards, but even you two aren't saying much about the K-7's ability to take photos.... (edit: or rather the quality of the photos)
