Maybe it's just my magnetic personality creating interference but I've found the "grain" on my K10D to be pretty similar to film. I topped out on my tolerance at ISO 400 back in those days too.

By the way janneman, I don't have permission to view those files. I'm guessing you posted them to illustrate the low noise characteristics of your K10D? I would really like to see them if possible.

If there is a way to improve my results I would sure like to know about it.

Do you do any post processing to bring the noise under control at 1600?
I shoot mostly RAW, do you get better results with in-camera .Jpg noise reduction?

it's the worst in functional cameras with awfull noise from ISO400 and above,
VERY noisy AF, no good material and construction of body.
Primitive cameras with bad kit lens. AF is not much better than Pentax.
I can't speak on the DSLRs but I have to disagree in general. At the very least they used to make solid cameras. I still think my old F-828 is one of the best cameras I've held, in terms of ergonomics. It was built like a tank, has withstood several drops, and even without weather sealing has never had a problem with rain (even an episode of freezing rain where a nice layer of ice formed over the camera)

If you get exposure right, as in you do not have to boost exposure in post processing, even the ISO 1600 looks nice enough. Some noise but ot as much as you'd expect if you hear the noise produced by the "musicians"
Talk about "noise", see this and you will never complain about it anymore....

I also shoot RAW.... I never do any noise aside from any possivble default settings I have not yet been able to switch off. Unforntuantely I cannot recall the converter I used in 2007, I thik it might have been Bibble which dies have some noise reductuion but I am not sure. I don't like noise reduction, makes images "flat".....or I am not good at it....

WTF?!!?

If Pentax is making their own Noctilux and letting you shoot it at 1/8000, I will do a backflip.

it does not have to be a F1.0 lens. I can not remember how it was done on other cameras but you can make it appear that the lens attached is F1.2...... the more interesting bit is that the F1.0 option is added which is a Pentax first. Which is also something that makes me think its fake. But I am inclined to think its not.
1/8000th is good to hear if true.

It's not fake. It's from K-7 of Maxim Chicherin. firmware 0.2.
I don't know about f1.0 - maybe mistake of manual fixed lens, but 1/8000...

Also, the back wheel seems to be rubberized. Also a nice touch if you ask me!

It looks expensive. I wonder how much will it cost and if the 1500 euros speculation is right after all...

I'm guessing it's $1500 USD at release but like always it'll settle down after a month or so.
