And the "newer than the new K" body is like a K7 with K200D ergonomics, that is - fewer buttons and dials and a more beginner friendly user interface. It fills up the gap between the K7 and the K-m. It is sort of K20D with a simplified user interface in a more compact body. (similar body as the K7). You know the K10D and K100D that were combined into the K200d, and with a performance upgrade... Same thing happening again.
That sounds incredibly plausible.

nice to see a WR kit lens, that have been what the reviewers in sweden have been bashing

"its not better than its weekest link, why have a weather sealed body when you dont got a weather sealed lens"
But it has been possible to get weather sealed lenses for the K200D - just open up the wallet a little bit more.

Sure. You can buy something like this and make it virtually indestructable...

Interesting lens.

Like I said in another thread, daddy needs a cheaper weather-sealed lens. Thanks for getting my spirits up! I hope they make that available as soon as possible as a stand-alone lens. I'm ready to pony up for that and a sealed 55-200 kit lens. Here's hoping both will come at or under $500 in total.

I reckon I'm not the only one, too. There are many K10/200/20D users out there that will benefit from that.

It's not a "little bit" for my current financial state.

Anyway, at least Pentax intends to follow through with the precedent they set with the K200D, which is weather-sealed combos at lower price points. I had thought Olympus would get there first, seeing how their 14-54 is sealed and widely available for $400 (at least the 1st version). They only needed the body for it. Now Pentax will beat them to the punch, with the K-7 in tow for high end and the K20D available at low prices, with K200D stocks still available in some stores. Here's guessing those new WR kit lenses will help sell a few more K20D and K200D bodies than expected.

Yes, if Pentax offers a sealed 18-55 + 55-200 kit for $500, then they are going to sell a boatload to existing users.

I wouldn't be surprised if sealing these lenses would cost Pentax less than it costs Canon and Nikon to put AF and IS motors in their kit lenses. In-body mechanisms really make so much more sense, at least for small lenses.

Prog.

I don't know about you guys. I wouldn't use a $1500+ camera body (K-7) in the rain. It's not worth the risk. Plus what can you shot if its raining hard?

But I can rock a K200D, or maybe just get a used DS. Put a rain jacket on and I can save the money on a DA* weather seal lens. Iff the DS stop working no big lose.

I agree 100%. On top of that, I hope it creates a trend for Pentax lenses. I would love to see Tamron producing a water-sealed 18-270 for K-mount.

I've certainly shot with my K10D in the rain more than once, and it's been a non-issue.

There are certain places (such as Olympic Nat'l Park's Hoh Rain Forest) where if you're not shooting in the rain at some point, you're just not shooting

It also confirms the permanent ISO display.
I don't think that's necessarily permanent ISO. The K20D allows for this to be custom switched between ISO and remaining shots. I keep it on ISO.

When someone need a camera in the rain, the price doesn't matter anyway!

No, the K-7 shows both.

I don't think it's genuine, even if several items are probably true. This, assuming the translation is accurate.
I mean, 8fps? A Pentax? No chance in h*ll!
