I am 90% sure the text is authentic. A dealer "in the know" and posting on forums already acknowledged the text. There is a data sheet as well.

But it isn't just video. The entire feature set of the K-7 is amazing. It's just not that video will make the K-7 stand out.

Sounds like it's weather sealed for sunny weather.

Oh dear. Pentax releases their first SLR with video and people bash it for not being the best ever SLR with video. Some perspective? I mean, buy a Red system if you want to make films.

(I don't mean to slag just you Slugger, you just stepped up to the plate at the right/wrong time.)

(Oh, and how's the island weather this season?)

Was this image of the New K posted already here?

Not sure if I am late to the party or not. Somebody posted it at the other place didn't seem to get much fanfare though it is rather high res image.

Canon 60D Specs:

I don't care (and most of Pentaxian) about Canon or Nikon.
Our " baby" is the smallest and lightest semi-pro DSLR with VERY durable body for any climate zone. K-7 has ALL any good photographer needs.
And to say honest, K20D outperformes 50D in RAW in details and resolution and in picture's IQ. So K10D outperformes 40D in RAW in details and resolution and in picture's IQ. Even DPREVIEW said about it. K-7 (I'm sure) outperformes 60D in IQ.
50D's picture is really average for APS-C cameras IMO.

The camera should has the SOUL, K-7 has it.

OMFG, are you really going to cry over 720p?

Buy competition's toy and don't cry. Nikon D90...

You don't know the final specs of K-7, but start to weep.
FPS and RESOLUTION are not ALL.
But K-7 has 30 fps in all modes.

Who has better video? Canon 5D Mk II? We will see...
500D has pseudo-Full HD, for example.

D50/E3/D300 has no video.

"The opposed" seem to think that because a camera does video that "the aye's" all want to be cinematographers for Hollywood and we should go out and get a RED to satiate any simple desire to take some interesting video clips on a vacation or wherever. All i'm saying here is I want to play around with HD video and that dSLR's are doing some almost Hollywood level quality. The 5DMkII is being used on a professional level already.

I really just want something to match the resolution of my 1080p TV

It's crystal clear that dSLR's are going down that road, as much as "the opposed" kick and scream about it. Just don't use the function if you don't like it? My concern is that Pentax will underwhelm on this new video feature when they have an opportunity to do better than the competition and let them play catch up for once. The product cycles of Nikon and Canon are so much faster and they will have improved HD models out the door before Pentax no doubt. I'm no ship jumper mind you. I'll stay the course because I do like my lenses and Pentax's direction.

I am more than willing to "step up to the plate" and defend my words or I wouldn't have said them. No offense taken!

The island is quite beautiful this time of the year, I believe I've got a case of spring fever though

I don't see myself weeping over any of this. (OMFGadz!!—please, calm yourselves.) I just want 1080p out of the gates. (Like every TV for sale today.) I'm sure the camera is as good as you say it is. I don't plan to buy any Nikon or Canon gear. I trust Pentax will put out a stunning camera none the less.

For Pentax to increase sales, it would be nice to see them get a step up on the competition. This 1080p would have been a good step.

But hey, you've purportedly seen the camera and you seem pretty exuberant about it so I'll reserve my judgement until I have seen the K-7 in a week's time.

Regards.

So, you didn't try K-7. Tell me then, how do you know that K-7 has bad video implementation?

Do you realize that most consumer high definition camcorder's output is no where near the maximum sharpness possible of 1080? For example, the latest Sony HDR-XR520V was benchmarked as 650x700 lw/ph by camcorderinfo for its 1920x1080i recording.

So as you can see, it is certainly possible that 1280x720 can be made looking as good as current crops of dedicated HD camcorder; if they want to.
