Originally posted by rparmar Oh dear. Pentax releases their first SLR with video and people bash it for not being the best ever SLR with video. Some perspective? I mean, buy a Red system if you want to make films.
(I don't mean to slag just you Slugger, you just stepped up to the plate at the right/wrong time.)
(Oh, and how's the island weather this season?)
"The opposed" seem to think that because a camera does video that "the aye's" all want to be cinematographers for Hollywood and we should go out and get a RED to satiate any simple desire to take some interesting video clips on a vacation or wherever. All i'm saying here is I want to play around with HD video and that dSLR's are doing some almost Hollywood level quality. The 5DMkII is being used on a professional level already.
I really just want something to match the resolution of my 1080p TV
It's crystal clear that dSLR's are going down that road, as much as "the opposed" kick and scream about it. Just don't use the function if you don't like it? My concern is that Pentax will underwhelm on this new video feature when they have an opportunity to do better than the competition and let them play catch up for once. The product cycles of Nikon and Canon are so much faster and they will have improved HD models out the door before Pentax no doubt. I'm no ship jumper mind you. I'll stay the course because I do like my lenses and Pentax's direction.
I am more than willing to "step up to the plate" and defend my words or I wouldn't have said them. No offense taken!
The island is quite beautiful this time of the year, I believe I've got a case of spring fever though
