I can see DPR saying this:

"Kit lens is the only weather sealed affordable lens, could use midrange lenses with weather sealing."
DPR: "Pentax is so undecided on the water resistance of the kit lens that they wrote "whether-sealed" on the lens. Canon or Nikon would be decisive in this regard."

"The metal mount on the kit lens doesn't match up the plastic mounts of our stabilized lenses."

Magnification is an arbitrary choice determined by the view finder's eye piece. Pentax obviously choose to only mimimally increase the overall virtual size of the VF image. K20D (95% x 0.95x = 0.90).

If you want a film camera sized VF (e.g., MX is 1.53 x 95% x 0.97x = 1.41), you better just add the O-ME53 1.2x eye piece which gives you

100% and 1.1x on the K-7.

Should be a good option for people wanting large magnification and not wearing glasses.

Hi Falconeye,

I wear glasses.. do you think I would still be able to use an O-ME53?

I wear glasses as well. I wrote a review of the O-ME53 with pictures through the viewfinder here:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/47178-k20d-o-me53-...-pictures.html

A viewfinder magnifier is no replacement for a truly larger viewfinder built into the camera.

Well, couple more questions:
1) How do you get into menu then?
2) Why custom image settings are so special that it requires a separate hardware button? Do you change it that often?
Tentative answers:
1) The MENU button, perhaps? Take a look at an image of the entire back of the camera. The previously existing MENU button, which used to sit to the left of the LCD screen along with TRASH, INFO, and the like, is still present on the K-7. It's just been given a new space on the camera back.
2) I personally do not use it that often, but people who are primarily jpeg shooters (as I might be while traveling due to limited storage) would find that useful. The K20D's jpeg engine is good enough that for the needs of almost anybody, you really don't need to shoot raw if you get the jpeg settings and exposure right. Anyways, on the K20D, picture mode settings were just as quick and easy to access as WB, drive mode, and flash mode. They were all on the same menu, actually, so it makes sense that they'd all be together here as well. Some continuity with previous models.

In response to your other post, I imagine it might serve every function it would normally serve other than AF point selection (such as helping you navigate the menus and make setting changes) and it would just not do anything if you hit it on its own, independent of other actions.

I am really excited about the "buzz" I am reading about the viewfinder. Hope I am not disappointed!

Regarding AF-point. What about pushing AF button and select with front dial?
And logo below OK is quite the same as Screen Zooming option (not arrows, IMHO) :/

Agree with you, I don't understand the purpose of having such fonction on direct acces via button. IMHO it looks much more like switch (VF DOF / LCD DOF).

For my opinion it'll be step back from current situation, as with the dial you can cycle focus point in predefined way only, not as freely and fast as now. Canon had same way of focusing point change and I didn't liked when I was using it. It seems that Canon egineers also understood that so in latest models it is possible to use joystick to change between the points freely, and not only to cycle them/

Has there been any sugestions that the rectangle / hexagon button is to access SR modes?

If they removed the on/off switch for SR, there must have been a good reason. Anyone think the camera has various types of SR?

I saw the posts where it was implied that SR can now simulate a tilt/shift lens. I'm having trouble buying that. But what about other SR settings? Pan mode? Monopod mode?

Thoughts?

^ The 645D concept has the same button. I think it's safe to say it's probably the scenes mode.
