you gotta be kidding. you must realize, it has already been covered: what they might have done wrong, or right, what we might be complaining about should they have done this or that. actually, i doubt there will be much left to discuss after they release it, all we have to do is pick out the relevant complaints and praises which were already written based on no facts at all (and all possible facts imaginable), that is, unless pentax has managed to somehow revolutionize physics and thus understanding of the universe as we know it, in which case this thread might have just begun..

No, it means that THE THREAD is much more important than the K7.
Pentax may bring a camera out, ok.
We transcend these banalities and live for THE THREAD now.
Feed it, care for it ...
"is this pic of K30D?" will become your life, your religion, everything ...
Amen.

If the video I saw was the real quality of the camera, then it is worth buying for this alone.
Unless, of course, you're a photographer. In which case you want features to help photographers. I hope there's still some chance of that.

Ummm, a question

I have been looking at a few posts here inthis thread and so far I have not seen any confirmation that the camera has the Pentax K-mount

Hooray - it's the National Day of Norway!

With just 4 days to go I guess we'll have to look out for suspicious looking photographers with a K-7 and an NDA trying to catch some shots of our blonde Norwegian girls in their traditional bunads. After all the K-7 is to be presented here in a few days, so it should have arrived already, right ?

Nor do we know whether it comes in a box or has an instruction manual.

You're very much correct, I suppose it'd possible that they've decided to abandon the lensmount that includes the limited series lenses the cameras is supposed to "go well with." Come to think of it, that new WR kit lens and DA 35 that have been shown on the camera so far are probably new Nikon mount versions. Their ergonomics are the most similar to our own, after all.

Geez louise, I guess I'd better start selling off my k-mount glass...

Now that I think of it, do we have any confirmation that it takes pictures? Perhaps it's intended as a blunt weapon for some exotic asian combat form.

Pictures have been posted of it with the DA35mm Macro, the weathersealed 18-55, and the DA*55mm 1.4 mounted. It's a safe bet that it has a k-mount.

I had the same idea. But then I realized that Pentax already has an aperture icon, the one you can see on the on/off switch.

Sloppyness in reading THE THREAD will not be forgiven.

Go back to its beginning and search for clear proof that the mount is a K mount and that it ships with a manual. It's all there, right at your fingertips

Regarding the new 4way button ...

As PenDucks of German DFN has pointed out, the K-7 uses the exact same 4way button layout as a prototype of 645D.

FWIW ...

Being on the 645D makes me all the more skeptical about the button being a jpeg image mode button. Just seems like if you're going for the pinnacle of image quality (med format), why would you not shoot exclusively in RAW, thus making such a button pointless?

Probably because it is the "same" camera. Ie they share camera electronics circuitry. The 645D was frozen to free resources for a top model K-DSLR; the K-7. Also certain aspects of the 645D was out of date. My guess is that the K-7 donated its camera control electronics (the imaging pipeline may share a thing or two as well) to the 645D. Metering and AF module as well.
