I am sorry. Either your K10D is defective or you need to get some better triggers. I use my K10D and a vivitar 285HV at 1/180 all the time. I've never seen any black strip.

What wireless trigger do I use? Cactus V2. I am not sure you can buy cheaper triggers than that.

From my experience with K10D and various wireless controlers, It doesn't work at 1/180 there is a black strip in th bottom of the photo . usable is 1/125 . I wanna full functional x-sync (this problem is on every k10d with most of controlers).

really? Between 1/180 and 1/250, there is only a half stop difference. Why is it such a big deal ?

For reference, the Canon 5D can only do 1/200.
Sometimes 1/2EV makes a difference. Believe me.
And if camera can sync at 1/250s, you can cheat a little bit and sync at 1/320s as well. The problem is that Pentax cameras don't allow to trigger anything above 1/180s and you can't even cheat...

Well I am sure it makes a difference, but certainly not to the extent of a deal breaker for me.

I too wish that Pentax would let us sync faster than the xsync speed, but that has nothing to do with what the xsync speed is.

This is more an omission on the part of camera design rather than a reliable feature Anyways, no I don't think that 1/2 stop is such a big deal. If I need high sync, I always have HSS.

Interesting turn...

So then the AF assist is not on the body? Then what is the white round thing between the lens and the grip?

Are we back to a white balence feature?

Yes.. there are 4 LED on top of the flash in that picture... so the flash now has the normal "flash" as well as 4 LED for AF assist or Video light.. am I correct?

O really? Wirelessly? And the light loss with HSS is another disadvantage... The point of of higher sync speed is better control over flash ambient ratio and HSS is more suitable for fill flash rather then overpowering the ambient...

There is no 1080i video at 30 fps. It's nonsense.

1080i at 50 or 60 fps.

at 30 fps is 1080p.
1080i means interpolated... nothing to do with fps.

No. It means interlaced and it has a lot to do with fps. With 1080i you're getting 60 half frames of 540 lines in one second.

1080i means interlaced.

And it has something to do with FPS: 1080i@60fps will require the same bandwidth as 1080p@30fps
