I'm glad to see (from the german page) that the O-ME53 still fits. 100%, 1.1× viewfinder sounds good to me!

I wonder, would RAW files out of the K-7 respect the same file layout as the ones out of the K20D, seeing as they use a very similar sensor?

I normally use DNG in the first weeks/month of using a new camera since that's the time the people at Adobe take to include the new PEF RAW format in their software (I'm an avid Lightroom user). I would like it very much if I could just use the more compact PEF from the start...

And that's all she wrote!
I've been watching this tread for quite some time now, just content to take in the info as they come along. But I couldn't help but comment now

Hope to hear from those who have handled the camera when they can official spill the beans and get some first hand comments on the features, ergonmics and handling.

'The K-7 is FULLY SICK'

Indeed, great for us who don't wear glasses!!

I see confirmed that the new focussing screens will be brighter! Great news for me with my Optibrite KatzEye, but I wonder about the size of these new screens... It seems there will be many questions that will remain unanswered...

Anyone who got the camera in their hand, what about the shutter noise? I don't usually care but last week-end I was at some event and I heard the official photographer's camera noise (some Canon, 40D or maybe even 5D) and it was so clickety and unlike my K20D's that I got a little jealous... (Not that it would change my decision about the K-7 one bit but...)

Specs look great!

Couldn't see any mention of the "predictive autofocus" as the rumour from the German announcement mentioned.

Really can't wait. Anyone have any ideas how long this will take to actually get to the shops?

Movie modes.
9MB per second for maximum file size.
7 MB per second for 720p
Sounds interesting

Canon 5d MKII is roughly 4-5 MBPS at 1080P.
Either Pentax has a crap codec, or its very very good video. Could easily be upresed to 1080p and look great.

Am a bit sceptical to motion jpeg as the codec. I know they use it cause its easy for them, but I dont think its good for us. And its not as compatible with converters as such as I have found with the files from my lx3

Motion JPEG is better in many ways...

Motion JPEG is actually preferable for video editing, since it is an "intraframe" codec, meaning each frame is compressed individually. This allows it to be edited more easily, in particular, avoiding generation losses when you render effects. The tradeoff is that file sizes are larger, but generally, the quality is better.

As one example, if you want to edit long-GOP media (e.g., HDV, MPEG2, etc.), you have to re-encode around each cut point, which degrades your image quality. MJPEG doesn't require that; you can cut clips together all day long without requiring re-encoding.
