Am a bit sceptical to motion jpeg as the codec. I know they use it cause its easy for them, but I dont think its good for us. And its not as compatible with converters as such as I have found with the files from my lx3
I think motion jpg should be no problem with any compositing software or converter as long as you have the right codec installed in windows. Let's see the quality of the videos first

So I've heard $1200-$1400.

When will the official price be announced?

It's been confirmed as $1200. Not sure if BH means body only or with the 18-55 WR.

if $1200 is true, then i think the price fortunately undercuts many of our expectations.

It is. It's been listed on BH.

This is amazing though, magnesium body, high res LCD, weather sealing, 100% viewfinder, 5 fps, for less than the 50D was listed for when it was released, and it didn't even have those features. I think this may be the cheapest DSLR with so many features ever!

Here's the link. I would think it is just the body.

The only problem here is the typography and general design of the new WR lenses. Honestly, writing out the focal lengths in stretched Helvetica? Looks hideous.

Pentax has had some good, consistent lens design going recently:

...and then they go and flub it up like this. The new 18-55 and 50-200 lenses look really awful in a "welcome to 1992" way. I know they are WR and function-above-form but at least pay a little attention to consistent typography!

Dude, get over it, they're weather sealed kit lenses. Do you know any other brands that have those?

I agree with this. They should've stayed with the old one.

yeah, i noticed the same. this thin helvetica looks really outdated, very '90s canonish.

Look at it this way: if the worst thing I have to whine about is crappy typography on the lenses, wouldn't you say Pentax has done a pretty good job after all?

I'm just saying it's very strange how they have built up a consistent "look" for their lenses since the introduction of the DA line, and then go flush it down the toilet for something obviously inferior.

i think K-7 is a very good progress for Pentax. D90 or 50D are loosing against k-7.
