That might be the highest popup flash I have ever seen. That's a good thing, though.

i think K-7 is a very good progress for Pentax. D90 or 50D are loosing against k-7.
maybe first wait tests and then make conlcusion. Interesting how much improved AF.

I hope they made the card door well, not easily opened like the D80. The Canon 40/50D have good memory card slot doors without a latch thingy like our K10/20D, hope they make it like that.

Yes...because maybe the flash won't cast a shadow over an Da*16-50mm anymore!

Movie modes.
9MB per second for maximum file size.
7 MB per second for 720p

Am a bit sceptical to motion jpeg as the codec.
I analyszed the figures a bit and posted in the K-7 video quality thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/603675-post290.html

Let me copy it here as well for easier reference:
Movie (All AVI/MJPEG at 30 fps):

format *quality* "duration until 4GB full" -> MBit/s data rate / "kByte/image frame"

1536 x 1024p *** 7:23 -> 74.0 / 316
1536 x 1024p ** 10:22 -> 52.7
1536 x 1024p * 14:40 -> 37.2

1280 x 720p *** 9:26 -> 57.9 / 247
1280 x 720p ** 13:19 -> 41.0
1280 x 720p * 18:37 -> 28.4

640 x 416p *** 31:55 -> 17.1 / 73
640 x 416p ** 41:44 -> 13.1
640 x 416p * 60:57 -> 9.0 / 38

74.0 MBit/s or 9.2 MByte/s is twice the data rate of a Canon 5Dmk2, so far industry's best. Quality would be comparable, because of MJPEG vs. H.264.

Motion JPEG is fine because it is free from motion compression artifacts and easier to postprocess. Most MJPEG codecs use a aggressive frame compression. Not Pentax. ~300 kByte per image is good (***) JPEG compression quality.

Loved this photo, until I realized that six or seven of the lenses would be the 18-55mm and 55-200mm variants.

18-55mm I, 18-55mm II, 18-55mm L, 18-55mm WR
50-200mm, 50-200mm L, 50-200mm WR

Thank you
Russell

Something very interesting. the 1536 x 1024p mode.
Multiply it by 1.25
you get 1920x1200. exactly.

With that compression, if they put 1080p on it, it would be a revolution out there for independent film making.

Do you think that is a limitation by hardware or they are planning something for later?

That 1.25% is noticeble when upscalling, but just a little

Funny resolution really sounds like they tried for 1080p and failed. wonder what failed, sensor, processing, firmware. wonder if the samsung nx will have 1080p

sorry to be pesimistic but

x1.25 and 1.25% are not the same.. I think you meant 125%

that resolution is 4:3, you can scale it but you only will have a 4:3 resolution in the end

You have to crop it first to 1536x864 to have a 16:9 then scale it to 1920x1080 if you want.

Isn't this the first APS-C DSLR with 100% viewfinder? The A900 has 100% but it's full frame.
