I agree. I thought even the K10 shouldn't have been compared to the D80, but with the K-7 there is a big gap compared to the D90.
Originally posted by RMabo I don't get the D90 referencies that pops up now and then here.
The K-7 is so much more.
100% viewfinder, the D90 does not.
Magnesium alloy body, the D90 has plastic body with some metal reinforcements underneath.
K-7 is weather sealed, the D90 is not.
K-7 has 1/8000 shutter, the D90 has 1/4000.
K-7 has PC-flash socket, the D90 does not.
And many other differencies, features the K-7 have and the D90 does not.
So why even bother about comparing with the D90? From a technical point of view, the K-7 is clearly the superior camera.
When the K-7 Junior (K-70?) comes out later this year, we can make a comparision with D90. But so far, lets ditch the D90 thingie here and compare with the D300 and other in that class. D90 simply doesn't make it.
Now for a personal opinion - the K-7 doesn't really bring anything that I'd really want (great OVF, high sync and aperture coupler) and most of the improvements (like FPS) don't really affect my shooting - but they can't hurt, and I'm happy for the people that wanted them and most of all - happy that again, there is a decent VF in a smallish Pentax body. I like the new proportion of the grip/body height - I always felt the k100 and k10 could have had taller grips.
I can't wait for people to actually start using the K-7 and watch their delight or hatred - I wonder what Achille's heel (aka VPN) will they find...
