Nice to see they got the grip right altho I hope those iso and ev comp buttons are recessed eanough, otherwise I can imagine I would accidentally press them while holding the camera.

Maybe they should use the orientation sensor to enable/diable buttons on the grip hehe

Not my image, but click through to flickr to see a large version.

Quite a lot of space "wasted" around the lens elements. It's 2009, isn't it possible to get rid of all those thick layers of plastic/metal?

I'm guessing this is a weathersealed lens.. you'll need volume To compress and space for the rings/washers etc. If the lens would be (near) airtight and there'd be little air volume, you'd be compressing the air in the lens quite a bit, making zoom action really tough. (You already feel that on the 16-50 when engaging the second stage). At least, that's what I think..

It would be cool if that were an option, but sometimes I use the grip controls when shooting in landscape orientation - specifically, the shutter button.

I really like that the K-7 body is of magnesium alloy, but how about the grip? It’s plastic I assume, (not that it matters that much) but it would be cool if…

I believe John C from pentax said on DPR that it was plastic

Any other brand marketing such grip, with option for batteries and AA and weathersealed, not replacing the internal battery but adding one more?

Not so sure...

Simply taken from the japenese pentax site K-7?????????????PENTAX

Do you think there's still a SD holder under the AA batteries?

If you study this photo, then it's obvious that there's a lot of room left in the grip. What about the "grip" part on the front (where your fingers go)?

I have no idea. People've seen the grip, did anyone take the holder out and see?

It's odd that there's not many photos of the grip yet..

Space left over inside the grip is for your 'stash'. Not something they can advertise for obvious reasons.

Wait, so not replacing the internal battery is considered a plus?
