You are correct, the *ist was the last Pentax film body to be introduced.

in fact the MZ-7 was discontinued before the last MZ series body was introduced. The last MZ body was the MZ-60, introduced in 2002, the year before the *ist. The MZ-7 was discontinued in 2001.

So i guess they are really moving to K7. They already have K2 in 1975. check the link. I think Pentax is to show something great. They like Pentax to have meaning in any person's life who uses it.

I have a theory on that.....
When they were making the calendar a few eons ago, they stopped for a smoke (or whatever) when they had reached 2012 , realized how far off that was and spoke the wise words: "aah, why bother"....
