I think that will be universal, durable in time and open source development...

As for the poll, my guess is they will announce it officially.
Good! That gives me time to find a job and a summer to work my ass off.

If they pull a Nikon D3x price fiasco, imma cry.

I'm basically in agreement about the "viral marketing" creating a bigger buzz. HOWEVER, I don't think they can sustain that buzz for another whole month.
I agree. With the photos leaked a month before and - perhaps - some real world specs too, who's going to remember it at all May 21st?

There was a flurry of shots 'leaked' weren't there? One a day or something. If they had spread them out then they might have been able to eek it out a bit longer, maybe a nother week, but not another month...

Its too bad but they'll have to stop leaking now and start again a week before the announcement date to build things up again.

I'm too lazy to pick through all the threads on the K7D, so I'll ask here: any word on the price point for this thing?

Thanks,

Jer

Somewhere between $1,200 to $1,500 w/ me saying $2,000

$2,000 based on "1,500 euro" bucks times $1.34= $2,010 in USA using straight euro to dollar bill conversion.

IRL 1500 euros tend to convert to something like $1200...

I'm trying to stay out of the speculation on this "alleged" new body as much as I can. I'm curious to see what they come out with but I'm not looking for a new (digital) body any time soon except the remote possibility of picking up a K2000 to "put in the glove box".

I would like to see Pentax come out with a flagship level DSLR (APS-C or 35mm) but I'm not holding my breath or going to be heartbroken if the "K7" isn't that camera.

What would turn my head though and cause me to review my budget?
- "full frame" 35mm sensor (15MPx is plenty).
- Imperceptible color noise at 1600 ISO in low light situations.
- ISO down to 32.
- A big, bright, full-view finder with a stock split screen.
- No on-board flash at all, but instead built-in PC and P5 sockets.
- 1/250s or better sync speed.
- 1/8000s max shutter speed.
- Fully user controllable NR (let me turn it off!)
- Ability to use multi-exposure and bracketing together.
- Integrated grip with AF button on the portrait oriented controls.
- No video.
- No live view.

Get me all that in a Pentax DSLR body for under $2,000 USD and I'll kiss Wheatfield on the mouth.

Votes shouldn't bump a thread (alter its date).

In this case, the title made it pretty obvious. Normally, it won't be obvious at all.

I had my attempt to prevent necro-posting already. Adam implemented a nice solution warning when posting into a dead thread. It probably doesn't work with voting, though ...

Simple solution to that is to close the poll. Unless the poll is closed, each time someone votes the thread will show as having new posts...regardless of how long it's been since someone actually posted.
