I think the spanish site just used a K10D or K20D photo on their announcement but that doesn't mean there are two bodies coming out together.

On the other hand, I find quite usual to have the official announcement of a camera before it is available for sale, so that means a May 21st announcement and a June 19th sale, is that so strange?

Obviously a countdown doesnt make sense for a camera announcement but for a "available for sale", IMHO.

"Próximo lanzamiento" means "Coming Soon".

Anyways since Im a coder and quite curious I checked the countdown code and found this:

Which ofcourse translates to: deadline on ~ May 20th ...which is also confusing, I thought the big date was 21st?

If thats the On Sale date, I think it would be the first time a camera arrives to stores before a previous complete anouncement (usually weeks or months in advance).

Also, I remember a link to a report from a Pentax Rep. after either Photokina or PMA that there was new 'developments' that had caused a change in direction (?design) with the next camera release and that it would not be a specific upgrade but different. I think this led to many of the now popular rumors that a new possibly square sensor was in works or perhaps a new EVF overlay,etc.

I have seen that and I, and many others, think that his announcement was far from clear due to the fact that he had to say something in English and clealry he was not at ease using the English language... Seemd almost spoken babelfish swedish->english...
And even if he had been clear, a new direction does not rule out a successor to the K20D.

I doubt Pentax could/would have the resources to release two top tier cameras (K7 and K30D). Perhaps a K300 but I would still expect a longer delay between releases.

I think a K30D is likely to appear sooner as a K300D would attract people who also look at the KM/K2000

People, that's just a stock photo of a K10D's top plate.

I'm not sure... There seems to be a distinct curvature of the bottom of the flash housing on the "new" camera. Otherwise, they do look alike.

Hrm, well, I wouldn't make too much of the 'leaked' image not being on every website out there, ...could be a lot of reasons, including someone in Spain just not having seen fit or bothered to change it.

I suppose, though, it wouldn't be unreasonable if there were a less-exciting announcement of another model waiting till after the big fanfare ...maybe a mild improvement on the K20 or K200... assuming this K-7 is going to be a bit pricey at first, that could kind of leave a gap in the middle of the lline: if they bumped the K10D's sensor down to the D200 when the K20 came out, they could do the same to make a D300.

Except months are numbered 0-11 in most programming languages. So that date is really means *june* 19th, hence the 54 days remaining.
