Originally posted by Ivan Glisin I may have missed something (I have to confess: I am not really following all leaks, rumors, rumored leaks, and leaked rumors ;-))) so someone please enlighten me on the new camera name: how it turned out to be K7D, not K3D or even K1D? Why "7"? Any reason for that? Anything half-official? Any piece of information I have overlooked?
I just keep thinking Minolta, not Pentax when I read K7D. (It somehow screams Minolta Maxxum 7D.)
Thanks!
Heard a story that the transplanted Hoya Exec who now oversees Marketing for Pentax is an avid mountain climber, came up with the whole "outdoors" extension of the weather-sealing.
He has either climbed or wants to climb
K7 (Karakoram), a mountian in the Himalyas (and plays off "The North Face" outdoor clothing).
Karakoram - The North Face
Thus K-7
Also, a wag here suggests K
minus 7
equals D
