My k20d was $606 Canadian, while at the same time was $800 to $1000 US. My point is that cost seems to be market driven and not based on a universal price. It doesn't matter much what the going rate is in US dollars....unless you plan on ordering it from the US....

What he said!

The cheapest price that I can find for a new K20D in Canadian dollars is from Pentax Imaging: $800 for the body.

Would have to agree, if rumours are true, about this WR kit lens being a mismatch for the K-7 (and the K20D for that matter).

Good to have for the regular consumer to sell as a kit (entry level dSLR - entry level lens), but I'd hazard to guess this new body will more likely be sold alone (with the buyer adding on the lenses of their choice) rather than with the kit lens.

Something tells me the K-7 will have no problems selling...
In fact, something even more compelling tells me there won't be enough K-7 available to meet demand when it comes out...

Prodigital2000 sold two K20D bodies a day at US $550-675 on ebay auctions in late 2008 to early 2009. It was mostly in late Nov. 2008 that I saw the below $600 auctions, and only one at the low $550, I think it was actually lower $535-540ish, but can't remember now. I bought at $615.

Current price is $699.99

Thank you
Russell

What's the rough english £s price anyone know?

Here's the current competition's prices

Canon 5D Mark II [Body Only] - £2,095.00

Nikon D700 (to be replace soon?) [Body Only] - £1,765.00

Nikon D300 [Body Only] - £1,165.00

Canon 50D [Body Only] - £848.00

Nikon D90 [Body Only] - £675.00

I'm expecting K-7 to be around £1200 - £1400 MAX!

And the grip to be about £200 ish as it's more advanced than others..

I disagree. I don't think it ought to be bundled with the 18-55, but maybe there ought to be a kit with one of the higher quality zooms or a limited lens. When I bought my K10D, I wanted to buy it with the 16-45, instead of the 18-55, but it wasn't offered that way. So, I went with the 18-55 since the package price gave me a nice discount on the lens. Don't get me wrong...the 18-55 is a good lens for what it is. But I've sinced passed it along to my wife and I still lust for the 16-45 or the 17-70. In the meantime, I'm more than happy to use my K10 with my old A series 35-105. I guess my point is that Pentax could have made another $100 bucks or so off of me when I made my initial purchase, simply by packaging their products differently.

Dollar has been gaining against a whole handful of currencies

(Just kidding... or am I?)
Last 4-5 days dollars have been regaining some of their lost luster.
