K7D how much will it cost?

So much here and there and I tried a search and don't see much about how much this bad boy will cost. Anyone find anything talking about price? Or anyone want to venture a guess? Or is there a thread I simply missed and if so will remove this one.

A German website listed in the main thread, the one with over 1000 posts, indicated that the price would be between 1,200 and 1,500 Euro.

Right

And I translated it into:

- Probably $1299 US launch price
- Max $1650 US launch price

(deducting German VAT).

To me, this kit lens business is a bit disappointing, although weather proofing is to be commended. But how many of the buyers of K-7 need or want a kit lens?

I wouldn't be surprised at all that K200D and K20D also will start to sell with those lenses.

That sounds like a great marketing plan, especially for K200D level camera. But the replacement of K20D with new sensor... you might as well sell it with DA*15-50 or something like that.

If we are to consider K-7 a flagship, it doesn't need a kit lens. Somebody somewhere said something to the extent that D3 was never marketed with a kit lens(don't know if that is true or not).

The new canon T1i and Nikon D5000 are under $1000 USD with kit lens, if the K7D is over $1k USD, it's hard to attract regular Joe.

^The K7 will eat two D5000 and two T1i for dinner if half the speculated specs become true. So it does not mind at all if its price is a bit higher, as it will be much more camera.

Remember: the K10D was competitor of the D200, not of the entry level Nikons. And from what is known (is it known something for real, BTW??), it seems the K7 will be clearly above the K10/K20.

The K20D's launch price was around $1300 USD IIRC. The K-7 will most definitely be even higher. By this time in the year 2010, I expect the price will have dropped to $750.

But you have to figure in the extra cost for the chrome package, the flame decals, 22cm mode selection "fatties" wheels, and under lens LCD lighting glow package.

Pentax K-7, hoopty edition.

You've also got to factor in the impending crash of the US dollar

(Just kidding... or am I?)

USD750 would be equivalent to A$1071 (assuming a 1 to 0.7 conversion factor). I don't think this is possible as this will be even cheaper than the current k20D. In Australia, k20D is still selling A$1250.

I would think the k-7 would prolly retail (in Australia) for say A$1800 to A$2000. If what they say about the many features in k-7 is true, then i would say A$2000 for K-7 is well worth the money. Time to save up the stimulus cash from Mr. Rudd!!

I would be, so would many others seeing as the k200d is "dead". Why would they change the k20d kit lens when the camera is almost a year into it's life cycle?

Pentax will need to market their K-7 with respect to the other DSLRs in the similar price/performance bracket as the K-7. So in Canada:

T1i $1000.00
40D $1050.00
E-30 $1050.00
K20D $1100.00
D90 $1100.00
A700 $1150.00
50D $1400.00
D300 $1600.00
E-3 $1600.00

So, better specs then the 50D? maybe.
Better then the D300? doubt it.

So...$1500.00 CAD?

That is alot less then the initial number that went arround of 1500 Euro ($2385.00 CAD)

If Pentax misses the price point, this will not be a camera to draw in new users.
