PENTAX numbers (two digits) SDM

Yes, and those numbers do look the same so I'd say 55. Don't think a 33mm is in the pipeline

I agree.... SDM can be read easily and numbers are the same so I would also say DA* 55mm...

This DA*55... This lens is going to be just perfect for K-7, if the rumored specs are right. It sometimes needs faster than 1/4000. Gee, I can hardly wait.

I think we have established a couple of pages ago, that the picture is black and white and that this is really the Pentax DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM mounted on the new camera model.

Unless its blocking the flash or something, a hood is pretty much always worth using. Just because the light is dim enough to need to use the AF assist light doesn't mean there isn't side light that could be hitting the lens.

The body design sort-of looks like an Olympus E-30. Sort of.

actually i tend to agree. flare has more to do with contrast than with quantity of light (which makes sense really). you can get flare very easily with nightshots. a light source, when talking about flare, is a light source because it is that much brighter than the rest of the scene, not because it is particularly strong in absolute terms (or at least it seems so in practice). so, in short: yes, i use (and need) my hoods also at night (for a random example).

Although arguably it should be — the exact replacement for a full-frame 50mm.
