WooWhoo -- Pentax Canada Price Drops :D :D and one price increase

I received an email from Pentax informing me of several price drops and one(1)
price increase. They are, as follows:

PRICE DECREASE:

AF200FG (flash) -- -$25
DA 70/2.4 -- -$40
DA 17-70/4 -- -$64
DA 50-135/2.8 -- -$480 --

PRICE INCREASE:

DA 16-50/2.8 -- +$80

Pretty exciting stuff and nice for a Friday morning/afternoon/evening , until, of
course, I realised that I still have a DA 50-135/2.8 at the original price ;D

Cheers and have a great weekend

Jack

Hmmm... so they *actually noticed* the stacks of unsold DA*50-135s gathering dust with no new orders coming in from retailers? Go figure! I'll have to adjust my sig sometime...

Still think they're greedy b***ards to inflate prices that much in the first place, and I'm voting with my wallet.

- Got my DA70 and 16-50... from B&H (no duty!).
- Was about to get an AF540FGZ... bought a Metz instead.
- Thinking about a K-m for the wife... will pick it up in Chicago.

Now where's that emoticon of the smiley-face giving the finger?

I think the DA*50-135 price was a mistake they have now corrected. If they were being greedy they would have left it as is.

Many of the other price increases only got the lenses up to where they should be, internationally speaking. Sucks I know, but Canadian prices were below par for ages.

panoguy you have summed up my feelings exactly. I confronted them on the major price increase lenses, not the flashguns or bodies. They sent me a canned email from CSR3( Have to like it, Cannuckleheads are now numbered ) that they had held prices down and now we must pay true cost. What a load of Shutter Failures!

How can we decide to buy in Canada (which I prefer to support locals) if the price bounces like crazy. Or is this the new normal for Pentax Great White North?

Looking forward to the K-7, however if it is $1600 US dollars, this means $2400 CDN dollars with Pentax Canada math. And that would stop me from buying that rumour filled do everything Pentax flagship.

They were greedy, Period. Sales sucked and now they are being partially greedy.

Maybe your pricing should be reduced to the USA pricing instead of accepting being taken advantage of? I don't buy your arguement. However if you want to overpay than so be it.

I can take a quick hop across the border and buy in Buffalo, bring back what I want, pay the duty and still save big $$$. Visit friends there at the same time as my American friends are some of the best people on the planet.

effective immediately on some. Aden's dropped their price on 70mm 2.4, was $510 before increase, then went to $590, now it's $520. McBain now has the 50-135 for $1169.00

Hi ya K_P,

Nope, it was UP $640 and now DOWN $480 .... thus making a difference of UP $160

Mind you, I know a shop in Vancouver that still has it had "original" price

Cheers,

Jack
