Does it have anything worthwhile other than a battery and some buttons for vertical shooting!?... seemingly not apart from making it look bigger

The biggest advantage IMO of the BG2 is the improved ergonomics on the K10/20D. Now that I've been using one for a while I_never_take_it_off.

My BG2 user review.

Ha, neat. I didn't expect any word on this so soon. But more pins probably equals more functions that they could put on there. I think it'd be fun if they came out with a couple of versions, maybe one pretty basic, and a real Cadillac.
More pins could mean that the second SD card (noone did mention that K-7 was going to have two SD cards in body, right?) could be wired on instead of just being available...

The cavity on the BG2 holds the rubber plug that covers the connector socket on the bottom of the camera body. Perhaps there are 2 on the new grip because the K-7 has 2 plug sockets?

BG2 rubber plug cavity:
That was one thing that always annoyed me. When you use BG-2 you keep the body's rubber plug on the grip. OK. But how about the Grip's own white plastic protector for the connecting pins?? where do you keep it?? In the Sac, to get lost? So Pentax made room in the grip for that too. Clever?
