What you should be hoping for is that the K-7 inherits the exposure system of the Pentax LX where the exposure is determined at two stages: metering on the first curtain, of directly from the film during longer exposures. Seems feasible in the K-7 too; this way it doesn't matter which screen you use.
Indeed, that would be the best solution. No impact at all on metering. Even now with my optibright treated KatzEye my K20D underexposes 1 stop on average. Easily compensated for of course. A more consistent new(?) metering would be better even if a constant compensation of required due to the focus screen, but completely independent metering is the ideal situation. I'm not counting on the anyhow...

-Maybe he is used to the K20D size and thinks it too small
-Maybe he has tiny hands and wanted it even smaller
-Maybe he thinks it is ugly
-Maybe it is only available in black
-Maybe it will come in different colours, the black one is is only a limited series

Did I forget anything?

its SAFOX IX not IIX after 7 then 9. AF Contrast metering. And maybe the manual and AF lever has been removed or placed somewhere on the RH side.

Neither am I, but *if* the K-7 indeed has a metering system derived from the one on the LX, then this means that we finally can use our beloved MF lenses like they should. I.e. without metering errors because the metering takes place with closed diaphragm at the time of exposure. Now, wouldn't that be cool? This way, it doesn't matter anymore that the mount is crippled

(Although there's a drawback too: you'll never know which shutter speed the camera is going to use).

The only problem is that there is no more film to meter from....

surface reflectivity of the sensor would render "off the sensor" metering very difficult if not impossible I am afraid.

No; it's still where you would expect it.

Is this all about taking better photos? ...I mean Come on!! :S

The cameramens of the future can't capture the moment, don't know when to press at the right moment, don't know how to metering well and don't even tell me about set the DOF at the right point..

ohh, wait a minute! We don't need this no more! Everything we dream of is just inside the camera. We don't need practice anything..just but a better camera and continue complain about the gear and we will be PRO's everyone.

........ gosh

I've heard that before... doesn't the sensor reflect light? Anyway, couldn't the sensor itself be used as a light meter?

Edit: it should be possible. Didn't the *ist D and DS have off-the-sensor TTL flash metering?

Maybe it's FF and his DA lenses don't work without vignetting?
